Unit 9 How many?第六课教案1.Uncle Bookys storytimeStudent Book page 36Tell the children to open their books at page 36. Draw their attention to the pictures. Explain that these pictures tell a story about numbers.Ask questions about the pictures. Have the children talk about the story and what they think each character is saying.Say, “Now we are going to listen to what the characters say.” Play the tape. Tell the children listen to the story, pointing to the matching pictures.Tell the children to look at each speech bubble. Ask them to find out the words they know. Encourage them to guess the meanings of unfamiliar words. Play the tape of the whole story again. This time have the children touch the speaking character.2.One potato, two potatoes.This is a traditional English rhyme. It is used as a selection procedure. It can be used to decide which child has first turn in a game or to form pairs. (The first two children chosen form a pair. Continue until all the class are in pairs.) Write the words on the board. Chant the rhyme, taking care to stress the correct syllables as you do so. Point to each word as you say it. Have the children practice chanting the rhyme, a few words at a time. Make sure they use the correct stress pattern. Have the children all chant the entire rhyme without stopping. Have the children stand in circles and each hold out a fist. You can vary the number of circles according to the class size. Choose one child to stand in the middle of each circle. The child in the middle is the “teller”.Have the children chant the rhyme again, but this time have the “teller” in each circle go around the circle touching the childrens fists in time to the beat. The child who is touched on the word “MORE” is the chosen one.One potato, two potatoes, three potatoes, four. Five potatoes, six potatoes, seven potatoes, MORE! 3.BingoUse this game to review the vocabulary, numbers one through ten, and letters introduced in this unit.Tell the children to take their cards for this Unit and get ready for the game.See Unit 1, page 24, for the rules and procedure. 4.Snap! This game reviews numbers one through ten, and letters introduced in this unit. It is best played in pairs.Ask the children to take out their small flashcards for this Unit.See Unit 1, page 24, for the rules and procedure. 5.Self-assessmentStudent Book page 37In activity one, point to the pictures of the cat. Ask, “How many cats are there?” Elicit from the children the correct answer. Point to the word in front of the picture and ask which letter is missing. Then have different letter cases.In activity two, the children need to write the name of numbers by themselves. Have the children look at the picture carefully. Draw the attention to the first question on the right and ask, “How many bikes?” Elicit the correct answer “Seven.” from the children.Then have them write out the name of number on the line below the question.
