Teaching PlanClass Type: listening and speaking class, 40min Teaching Objectives: (1) Knowledge Objectives: 1) Students will grasp the ten different kinds of chores. 2) Students will master the sentence patterns: 1 -Could you please do sth.? (Make polite requests) -Yes, sure./ Of course./ Certaily./ All right./ OK. Sorry, I cant. I.(reason)2 -Could I do sth.? (Ask for permission) -Sorry, I will/wont. (2) Ability Objectives: 1) Students will learn to talk about housework in English. 2) Students will be able to make polite requests and ask for permission in English. 3) Students will improve their listening and speaking skills related with housework, polite requests and asking for permission. (3) Emotional Objectives: 1) Students will realize the importance of being polite. 2) Students will know the necessity to help parents do chores at home. Teaching Key and Difficult Points: (1) Teaching Key Points: 1) The ten kinds of housework 2) The sentence patterns for making polite requests and asking for permission as well as their reponses. (2) Teaching Difficult Points: Improve the listening and speaking skills related with housework, polite requests and asking for permission. Teaching Aids: Multi-media, blackboard and a timer. Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Lead-in (2 min)Two-minute vedio of English Childrens Story Do Housework T: Do you like the video?S: Yes. T: Whats the vedio about? S: Do housework. T: Do you do housework at home? S: .T: Ok. Today we are going to learn some housework first. (Justification: use the vedio to arouse students interest and attract their attention to the teaching topic. ) Step 2 Pre-listening (10 min) 1) Show some pictures to present the ten kinds of chores. 2) Play the game “You Act, I Guess” to practice and consolidate the learning of these chores. Pair work: Student A act out the chores in order and Student B guess the chores. The pair using the least time and guessing the most kinds of chores wins. (Justification: the pictures and game can help students better grasp the expressions and consolidate the learning of phrases in an interesting way. )Step 3 While-listening (15 min) Activity 1b: Listen. Who will do these chores? Check Peters mother or Peter. a. Play the audio and check the answers with the students. b. Read the tapescrippts and draw students attention to the underlined sentences-the sentence pattern for making polite requests. Present and explain the sentence pattern. c. Pair work: look at the pictures and practice conversations by using the above-mentioned sentence pattern. Activity 2a &2b: Listen. Peter asks his father if he can do four things. What does his father say? Check yes or no. Listen again. Why does Peters father say “no”? Draw lines to the reasons in the chart in 2a. a. Play the audio and check the answers for 2a. b. Play the audio again and check the answers for 2b. c. Read the tapescrippts and draw students attention to the underlined sentences-the sentence pattern for making polite requests and asking for permission. Present and explain the sentence patterns. (Justification: use the scenario from the textbook to improve students listening and speaking skills. ) Step 4 Post-listening (10 min) 1) Have a discussion about some necessary preparations for a camping trip. 2) Group work: Ss form groups of six, ask and answer questions in accordance with the examples, fill in a form and send an representative to make a report like the model on PPT. (Justification: create a scenario for students to have conversations in English. The report task can improve students writing and speaking skills. ) Step 5 Summary and Homework (3 min) 1) Summary1 Ten kinds of chores 2 Make polite requests (请求):-Could you please clean your room? -Yes,Sure! / Sorry, I cant. I.3 Ask for permission (同意): -Could I stay out until eleven?-Yes, you can. / No, You cant.2) Homework 1 Do your group members do chores at home. Make a survey and write a report about this.2 Help your mother do some chores at home. (Justification: summarize the class and give some tasks for further consolidation of the knowledge learning in this class.
