Help the Ss to develop listening and speaking skills.Learning strategies1. Ss will cultivate their ability of individual learning and cooperative learning by doing some activities independently and some in pairs.2. Ss will communicate with their partners in English while doing the pair work.Affect1. Encourage the Ss to learn in pairs.2. Talk about the date, and then tell the Ss on Thanksgiving Day, people give thanks to the others. 2. Show the picture with “sale” on it. Ask the Ss where it is. And tell them on Thanksgiving Day, I want to go shopping to buy some clothes for my parents. To set the scene, and arouse Ss interests.Lead the Ss to the scene.Step 2Presentation (words about clothes and colors)(6)Presentation (expressions)(5)1. Show the phonetic symbols first, ask the Ss try to read and spell the new words with “Its /Theyre”.2. Read the words together twice.3. Who has quick eyes?Test Ss knowledge, review the color words, and increase Ss vocabulary. And prepare for the following steps. this4. A: How much is that ? B: Its dollars. the these A: How much are those ? B: Theyre dollars. the (Here, “dollar”, it is “ar”, not “er”.)5.Before going to buy clothes, what do we use to buy clothes? Money: Dollars and RMB.Step 3Listening practice(5)1. My friends Tom and Sally also want to buy some clothes for their parents. Look at the picture, (1) where are they? Theyre at a store/shop.(2) Whats this? What are they? There are so many things, lets listen and find the things Sally and Tom want. And then, circle them.2. Read the conversations on the picture first, and then try to practice the conversation with the partners. Step 5Listening practice(3)1. Sally and Tom are shopping now, (show six pictures of six shops) there are so many shops, what are they? What clothes would they like to buy? (2b)2. How much are they? Lets listen and circle the things you hear, and then fill in the price tags. (2c)To provide listening practice with target language and give Ss practice in listening for specific items in conversations.Step 6Speaking practice(11)1. (optional) ask and answer questions about the things in 2b.2. Lets go shopping! If you want to go shopping, you should tell the shop assistant what you need, what your favorite color is, ask about the price and express thanks.(Emphasize the singular form and plural form.)To give Ss the opportunity to use the target language in a controlled manner.Step 7Production(2)1. On this Thursday, dont forget to say thank you to your parents, friends, teachers and classmates.2. Read the four sentences together. Thanks for your love, my parents; thanks for your help, my friends; thanks for your teaching, my teachers; thanks for your kindness, my classmates.To product the affection that we need to express thanks.Step 8Homework(1)1.
