Hometown feelingsTeaching aims1掌握基本的阅读技能2. 了解中国的一个典型特色,进城务工人群的生活,对家乡的感觉。Language points要求掌握以下句式: find much time to do sth ; Its a shame that ; According to ; regard with ; Its such a 2要求掌握以下词汇: (1)动词:search, regard, count (2)名词:crayon, shame, century, childhood(3)形容词:opposite (4) 副词: nowadays, especially Difficulties用英语描述家乡的变化,及对家乡变化的情感。Teaching steps(教学步骤)1. Warm-upShow a map of Sanmen. T:What is it? S: Its a map.T:What kine of map is it?S:Its a map of Sanmen.T:In the map , we can see many towns , how many are there?S:There are 14 towns, they are Haiyou ,Jiantiao, Shepan and so on.T:Shaliu is my hometown, that means I was born in Shaliu and I grew up there. Where is your hometown?S:My hometown is Take turns to talk about their hometowns T:Do you still live in your hometown? S:No.T:Why?S:Because we got to school in Haiyou now.说明:为后面的阅读教学作铺垫。很多农民工离开家乡进城务工。2. Presentation(呈现新知识)T: Answer the questions before you read.1. Why do millions of Chinese leave the countryside every year?2. How often do you think these people visit their hometowns?3. What new buildings does the government usually build in towns and villages?说明:用已有的知识猜测即将要学习的内容,训练读前预测的能力。3. Work on 2aT: Skim the article and see if your answers are the same as the passage.说明:首先从整体上把握文章的大意,对读前预测的一个检验。4. Work on 2bT: Read the article again and find expressions in the passage that have the same meanings as these words and phrases.For weaker Ss, make sure they understand the given words/phrases before asking them to complete the exercise.Alternatively, have Ss volunteer to explain the given words/phrases in English or (L1) their own language and find the correct expressions in the passage. 说明:指导学生注意理解细节,同时联系上下文,在语境中理解单词短语的意义。5. Work on 2cT: Complete the summary with words from the passage. You may need to change the forms of the words.Have Ss aware of using the correct forms of the words to complete the summary of the passage.说明:指导学生对一篇文章的缩写,概括文章的大意。6. Post-reading (Work on 2d) T: Look at these two pairs of pictures. Can you point out the differences? Show two pairs of pictures (compare now with the past)Have Ss describe what they see in the pictures. Focus on the changes Ss can see in the “now” pictures from the “before” pictures.T: Think of changes that are happening in your town or city today. Which changes are generally good? Which changes could be seen as bad? Then write a report.Show Ss the sample report and explain the structure and the use of tone in the report. Give adequate guidelines to Ss.Have Ss do this activity in pairs if they are not confident enough.
