Unit 3 Could you please clean your room?Section B 2a-2e Period 5 Teaching Aims: 1.Students are able to understand the main idea of the reading by skimming and complete the chart about the pros and cons according to the passages.2.Students are able to master the target languages and write sentences with phrases from the letters.3. To mobilize the students positive emotions to make them build up confidence, heading for the new goals.Analysis of the students:1.Students have learned the word “could” before, but they need to learn more about making polite requests and asking for permission using could.Teaching methods: Task-basked teachingTeaching important points: 1. Words and Expressions: stress, waster, develop, fairness, since, drop, anyway, depend on, in order to, provide sb with sth.2. Sentences: Could we just let them do their job as students? It is the parents job to provide a clean and comfortable environment at home for their children.Teaching difficult points: 1. To understand the meanings of the difficult sentences.2. To write sentences using the phrases.Teaching procedures and ways:Step 1 Greeting and leading-in Greet the students as usual and set the scene to lead in new course.T: Good morning boys and girls, I know some of you help do chores at home, but others dont do chores at all. Whats your idea about this? Lets follow the Sunday Mail magazine to know what parents ideas about this are. OK?Ill write the title on the blackboard. Step 2 Warming-up1.Have students discuss the questions with each other and answer the questions to arouse their interests.T: OK, lets first talk about the questions and give me your answers in pairs. 1) What do you often do to help your parents at home?2) Do you think kids should help out with chores at home? 2.Then ask some of them to give us their ideas about the discussions. Write the new words on the Bb.T: I think both of your ideas are OK. So lets go to 2b to see whether parents think young people should do chores at home.Step 3 While-reading1.Ask students to look through the two letters at page 22 to find out who agrees and who disagrees to do chores at home by using skimming. Then check their answers together.Skimming: Look through a piece of writing quickly to find the main idea without reading every word or read the first sentence in each paragraph a little more carefully. 2.Have students look through the charts in 2c first, then read the passages again and underline the main ideas. Help them to underline the right information. 3.Ask some students to write the short answers to 2c on the Bb. Check the answers together.Step 4 Post-reading1.Have them listen to the tape of 2b and repeat. Pay attention to the pronunciation. 2.Have them read again and find the difficult points. Students help each other in groups of four to deal with them first. If need, Ill help them. Write the points on the Bb and explain them.3. Ask them to write sentences with phrases of 2d from the letter. Ask some students to write the answers on the blackboard and check together.T: You did a good job. I think all of the hard work will be helpful for you to be better. So read again and write sentences with phrases from the letter yourselves.Step 5 SummaryT: Today we have learned a lot. You are so great. Now lets review what we have learned in class. 1. Go over the words and phrases on the blackboard.2. Read the passage again and fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the words according to 2b.I dont understand why some parents make their kids _ (help) with housework and chores at home.
