These fasteners differ from tip hardened tapping screws in which only the screw tip is case hardened.本标准定义了传统碳钢自攻螺钉的要求,螺钉的整个表面经表面硬化的热处理。这些紧固件和只是顶端表面淬硬的自攻螺钉不同。Conventional tapping screws are intended for general purpose applications such as fastening head liners, bezels, internal hardware, etc. The applications of these fasteners differ from tip hardened tapping screws which are intended for structural applications. The mechanical properties of conventional tapping screws will degrade if these fasteners are not properly protected and if they are used in a vehicle where they may be exposed to solutions used during manufacturing or if used where they may be exposed to water and salt. When it is necessary to specify a tapping screw, MS-4515 shall be used for fasteners less than 6 mm in diameter and MS-8253, Induction Hardened Tip Tapping Screws, shall be used for fasteners 6 mm and larger. If it is not possible to induction harden a tapping screw 6 mm in diameter or larger, it is strongly advised that an alternate joining technique be selected. For conventionally hardened double lead spaced thread tapping screws, boron intensified low carbon (0.08% minimum carbon) steel is a permissible option.硼强化低碳钢(0.0005 - 0.003%)是可允许选用的。对于常规的淬硬的双头带垫圈的自攻螺钉,硼强化钢(最低碳含量0.08%)是允许选用的。Heat (ladle) chemistry is subject to product or check analysis as specified in ASTM A29 or SAE J409 standards of the latest issue.热(钢包)化学是服从于产品的,或按ASTM A29以及SAE J409最新版本检查分析。Check analysis on finish parts necessitates determinations be made on uncased or core potions of the screw.成品零件的检查分析需要在没有表面淬火的部分或芯部进行4.0 PROCESS REQUIREMENTS 过程要求4.1 Heat Treatment 热处理Tapping screws shall be heat treated according to the processing requirements outlined in either PS-2 or PS-8.自攻螺钉应按照PS-2 或 PS-8指导的过程要求来进行热处理。NOTE: To aid the further cleaning and electroplating of these fasteners, it is recommended that the fastener manufacturer minimize the amount of dirt or excessive lubricant left on the fasteners on shipping to the heat treater. The dirt and lubricant will burn on to the fastener during heat treating which then may require aggressive acid cleaning for their removal. Acid cleaning can lead to hydrogen embrittlement. Fasteners which are covered with an excessive amount of oil, chips, die lubricants, etc., should be washed by the fastener manufacturer with appropriate cleaners prior to shipping to the heat treater. The heat treat supplier should also wash the parts to remove any residual light oils, rust inhibitors, etc., prior to placing the fasteners into the furnace. It is recommended that, if possible, the fasteners be heat treated by tempering in nitrogen to reduce heat treat scale formation which would aid in minimizing the amount of acid cleaning.注:为了有助于这些紧固件的清洗和电镀,推荐紧固件制造商在送到热处理商以前将紧固件上的污垢和过量的润滑剂减到最少。污垢和润滑剂会在热处理时“燃烧”,随后就会要腐蚀性的酸来清洗、去除。酸洗可能导致氢脆。对带有过多的油,切屑,模具润滑剂等的紧固件应在运送到热处理商之前由紧固件厂用恰当的清洗剂清洗。热处理商业应在紧固件放到炉内前清洗零件以去除任何残留的油,防锈剂等等。如果可能的话,推荐热处理的紧固件在氮气中回火来减少结垢,这可以有助于减少酸洗的总量。4.2 Tempering 回火After quenching the tapping screws shall be tempered by reheating to 345 degrees C (650 degrees F) minimum.在自攻螺钉淬火后应回火,再加热的温度为最低345摄氏度(650华氏度)。4.3 Surface Treatments 表面处理 Fasteners that are surface treated to improve their cleanliness, appearance or corrosion resistance may become hydrogen embrittled when exposed to the chemicals and coating methods used in processing. Consequently, it is required that carbon steel tapping screws, if surface treated, be hydrogen relieved according to the procedures described in PS-9500.紧固件为提高清洁度,外观或耐腐蚀性而进行表面处理,当暴露于化学品和在处理中用到涂覆方法时会产生氢脆。因此,如果有表面处理的话,要求碳钢自攻螺钉按PS-9500S的程序去氢脆处理5.0 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS OF THE MATERIAL 材料的性能要求Tapping screws shall meet the drive test and torsional strength requirements of the Tapping Screw Performance and Testing section of the Tapping Screw General Specifications in the Chrysler Standard Parts Book.自攻螺钉应符合克莱斯勒标准零件手册自攻螺钉的一般说明的“自攻螺钉性能和测试”一节关于驱动测试和抗扭强度要求,5.1 Mechanical Properties and Tests 机械性能和测试5.1.1 Surface Hardness After Tempering 回火后的表面硬度The surface hardness after tempering shall be the equivalent of 45 HRC minimum. For routine quality control measurements, the surface hardness may be measured using HR15N, knoop, or pyramid indentors. For referee measurements, a knoop or pyramid indentor with a 500 g load shall be used at a depth of 0.05 mm (0.002 inches) below the surface of the fastener.回火后的表面硬度最小应等于45HRC。为了满足日常质量控制的测量要求,可以用HR15N,奴普显微压痕硬度测量仪,或棱锥形压头测量表面硬度,作为参考测量,一个500g负载的奴普显微压痕硬度测量仪或棱锥形压头须在紧固件表面以下0.05mm(0.002英寸)使用。5.1.2 Core Hardness After Tempering 回火后的心部硬度The core hardness after tempering shall be 28 to 36 HRC measured at the mid-radius of a transverse section at a distance sufficiently behind the point of the screw to be through the full minor diameter of the fastener.回火后的心部硬度应为28或36HRC,它的测试位置应在横截面的半径的中部,这个位置充分远离了紧固件贯穿完整螺纹小径的地方5.2 Physical Properties and Tests 物理属性和测试5.2.1 Microstructure 显微结构The microstructure of the fastener shall show no band of free ferrite between the case and core upon metallographic examination. The case and core structures shall consist of tempered martensite.紧固件的显微结构在金相检验中应显示外部和心部的无自由铁素体夹层。外部和心部结构应由回火马氏体组成。5.2.2 Total Case Depth 总的渗碳层深度The total case depth shall conform to the Table 2. Case depth is measured normal to the surface at the thread flank at a point midway between the crest and root.
