Unit 5 Why do you like pandas?一、教材分析:本单元主要是通过学习动物名称和常见的有关描述动物的形容词,学会表达个人对动物的喜好;学会运用why, what, where引导的问句,了解动物的外形、生活习性及主要产地,并能运用英语简单描述自己喜欢的动物,进一步培养和激发热爱动物、保护动物、维护生态平衡的朴素情怀。主要学习内容如下表:二、教学目标:(一)、语言知识目标: 1、能掌握以下单词:tiger, elephant, panda, lion, koala, giraffe, cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary, kind, kind of, Australia, south, Africa, South Africa, pet, leg, cat, sleep 2、能掌握以下句型: What animals do you/does she/ does he like? I like . Why do you/does she/ does he want to see ? Because they are . Where are from? Theyre from .(二)、能力目标: To observe and describe animals. To talk about their preferences (3) 、情感态度价值观目标: 动物和人类都生活在同一地球上,动物是我们的朋友。我们人类应该与动物和谐相处,共同生存。我们应当学会关爱动物,保护动物。 三、教学重点: 1. 学会描述动物的性格及特点。 2.学会表达喜欢某类动物及说明喜欢的原因。 四、教学难点: 名词的复数形式表示一类事物。五、教学设计:Period 1: Section A 1a2cStep 1: Warming-up and lead in To create an English environment, Play a shortvideo about the movie Kung Fu Panda. Then ask some questions about the movie: What animals do you know in the movie? And then lets go to the zoo and see other animals. Step 2. Presentation (自主学习) 1. Get the students to learn the new words about animals according to the pronunciation and the Chinese meaning. Then get them to learn about the animals and other animals according to the picture. 2. Guessing game Play the sound of an animal, Let Ss guess what animal it is. Ss try to guess and remember the names of the animals. The one who guesses out is the lucky dog and can get one score 3. Then show the pictures of animals, ask students to turn to Page 25 and finish 1a. And then check the answers with them. Step3. Listening Work on 1b. Ask Ss to listen to the recording and check the animals they hear in 1a. Play the recording again and check the answers with them. Step4.Pair work (交流展示)Get the students to learn the new words about animals according to the pronunciation and the Chinese meaning. Then ask them to imagine “We are in the zoo, boys want to see the pandas first. But girls want to know the reasons, so they ask the boys.” Lets see the pandas first. Why do you like lions? Because they are cute. 3.Get Ss to practice the conversation using the animal in 1a. Get Ss to do the work with their partners. Then ask some pairs to show their work. Step5. Listening 1. Work on 2a: Get Ss to listen to the conversation carefully and write the names of the animals you hear on these lines. Play the recording the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording a second time. This time students write in the names of the animals. Check the answers. Point out the adjectives and countries listed on the right. Then play the recording again and have students match each animal with an adjective and a country. Correct the answers. 2. Work on 2b: Listen again and complete the conversation with the words in 2a. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and get Ss to write the answers. Then check the answers with the class. Step6. Pair work (交流展示) Learn about other animals according to a map: Where are they from? Then ask two students to read the conversation in 2b to the class. Get Ss to talk about other animals in groups. Then get some pairs to show their work.Step7.Group work (交流展示) Get Ss to make a survey in their groups. To finish the task, everyone may ask 3 or 4 group members.Step8.Extension (拓展延伸)Get Ss. to learn about some old saying:as busy as a bee 忙得团团转Its raining cats and dogs. 倾盆大雨。Every dog has its day. 每个人都有得意的一天。Step9. Summary (归纳点拨) Lets to see the pandas.(Let sb. do sth. ) - Why do you like pandas? - Because theyre kind of interesting.(kind of=a little ) -Where are they from? -They are from China.(be from=come from ) Step10. Exercise (训练反馈)Get Ss. to do some exercises in class. Then check the answers with them. S
