Let the Ss try to use some useful expressions to talk about their favorite person and review the past perfect tense.Step 2 Preparation1.The T plays pieces of music which have been prepared, asks the Ss to tell what kinds of music they are, and asks them which they love best and why. (They are pop music, light music, classical music, jazz, rock and American country music.)2.Tell the Ss today we are going to talk about an American singer called John Denver. Then give them a brief introduction about John Denver.John Denver is an American singer. He doesnt sing pop music, but country music . He is very successful. He has made a lot of records and often broadcasts on the radio and on TV. Many people like to hear him sing.Step 3 Practice for the dialogue1.Tell the Ss in the dialogue, Jackie and Yang Pei are talking about John Denver, an American country music singer. Ask the Ss to listen to the dialogue with the books closed.2.Let the Ss judge whether the following statements are true or false according to what they have heard in the dialogue. Do it orally.1)Jackie is going to see a film by John Denver on Saturday. (False)2)John Denver is singing at the New York theatre. (False)3)The music that Denver sings is American country music.
