INTRODUCTIONS 1.1 Purpose This document describes material- or component-level test methods. All specified tests described in this manual needs to be done and pass before approving supplier or approving new type of sample / tecnology or in case of any changes in sample (e.g. material) or in a manufacturing process. Quality control related issues e.g. test cases shall be described in product specified document. 1.2 References Nokia internal requirements. 1.3 Definitions NTP: Normal temperature and pressure. See laboratory environment Laboratory environment: In these tests defined as T = 20 25 C and RH = 40 60 % Room temperature: Same as laboratory environment Acceptance criteria: Defines the acceptance level of functionalities (mechanical, electrical), visual inspection etc which is required for PASS result of the test. All tested samples: failed and passed, should be opened and analyzed for corrosion, hidden failures, unusual wearing etc. Mechanical, Environmental and EMC Testing Handbook For Chargers 4 (85) CONFIDENTIAL Gear Chargers Ver 1.0 Approved Jari Hiirola 17.08.2010 DTY12568-EN-1.0 V1.0 Normal Performance (N): All specified performance requirements shall be fulfilled. 1.4 Abbreviations ATE: Automatic test equipment EUT: Equipment Under Test IEC: International Electrotechnical Commission IPXX: Defined in IEC 60529: Degrees of protection provided by the enclosures (IP code) SEM: Scanning electron microscope XRF: X-ray fluorescence ISTA: International Safe Transit Association, / TUPA Project: KOTEL Research Project KOTEL 051: TUPA, 2006 2007. Test N: Change of temperature; Test method Na IEC 60068-2-33: Environmental testing - Part 2: Tests. Guidance on change of temperature tests PURPOSE The purpose of the test is to determine the effects of rapid temperature changes on the sample e.g. during transportation. TEST MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS Recommended minimum sample size 10 Temperature shock chamber or 2 separate temperature chambers Test equipment for functional check TEST PROCEDURE 1. Before the test the samples are checked in the laboratory environment to ensure normal performance. 2. The samples are placed to the temperature chamber, which is then decreased to - 40 C. 3. After 2 hours dwell the samples are moved to the temperature chamber which is at + 85 C. The changing time should be less than 3 minutes. 4. The samples are kept for 2 hours at + 85 C. 5. After 2 hours the samples are moved to the chamber that is at - 40 C. 6. Repeat cycle specified in steps 3-5 four additional times. 7. After 5 cycles the samples are set to room temperature for recovery. 8. After 2 hours recovery times the final measurements are carried out in the laboratory environment to ensure normal performance.
