The way to achieve this may not be simple. It is very difficult for a nation to give help directly to people in another nation. The United Nations Organization(UNO) could undertake to direct the distribution of aid. Here however rises the problem of costs. Also tied with this is time. Perhaps the UNO could set up a body of devoted men and women in every country who can speedily distribute aid to victims of floods and earthquakes. More than the help that one nation can give to another during a disaster, it would be more effective to give other forms of help during normal times. A common proverb says, “Give me a fish and I eat for a day, teach me to fish and I eat for a lifetime.” If we follow this wise saying, it would be right to teach people from less developed nations to take care of themselves. For example, a country could share its technology with another. This could be in simple areas like agriculture or in more complex areas like medical andhealthcare or even in building satellites. Even a small country is able to help less developed nations. Sometimes what is taken for granted, like the setting up of a water purification plant or the administration of a school, could be useful for countries which are looking about to solve common problems. It does not cost much to share such simple things. Exchange students could be attached for a number of months or years and learn the required craft while on the site. They can then take their knowledge back to their homelands and if necessary come back from time to time to clear doubts or to update themselves. Such aid will be truly helpful and there is no chance of it being temporary or of it falling into the wrong hands. Many countries run extensive courses in all sorts of skills. It will not cost much to include deserving foreigners in these courses. Besides giving effective help to the countries concerned, there is also the build-up of friendships to consider. Giving direct help by giving materials may be effective in the short run and must continue to be given in the event of emergencies. However, in the long run what is really effective would be the sharing of knowledge.21. According to the author, how could international aid reach the victims in time ? A. CA new study of 8,000 young people in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior shows that although love can make adults live healthily and happily, it is a bad thing for young people. Puppy love (早恋) may bring stress for young people and can lead to depression (忧郁症). The study shows that girls become more depressed than boys, and younger girls are the worst of all.The possible reason for the connection between love and higher risk of depression for girls is “loss of self”. According to the study, even though boys would say “lose themselves in a romantic relationship”, this “loss of self” is much more likely to lead to depression when it happens to girls. Young girls who have romantic relationships usually like hiding their feelings and opinions. They wont tell that to their parents.Dr Marian Kaufman, an expert on young people problems, says 15% to 20% young people will have depression during their growing. Trying romance often causes the depression. She advises kids not to jump into romance too early. During growing up, it is important for young people to build strong friendships and a strong sense of self. She also suggests the parents should encourage their kids to keep close to their friends, attend more interesting school activities and spend enough time with family.Parents should watch for signs of depression - eating or mood changes - and if they see signs from their daughters or sons, they need to give help. The good news is that the connection between romance and depression seems to become weak with age. Love will always make us feel young, but only maturity (成熟) gives us a chance to avoid its bad side effects.29. Whats the main idea of the passage?A. Puppy love may bring young people depression.B. Parents should forbid their childrens love.C. Romance is a two-edged sword for adults. D. Romance is good for young people.30. Which of the following is more likely to have depression?A. Young people who have a strong sense of selfishness.B. Young boys whose parents watch for their behavior.C. Young girls who always hide their feelings and opinions.D. Careless parents whose children are deep in love.31. What can be inferred from the passage?A. Lacking love can lead young people to grow up more quickly.B. Early love makes young people keep close to their friends and parents.C. Parents should help their children to be aware of the signs of depression.D. The older a woman is,the less likely she seems to lose herself in romance. DWhen several people look at the same person, it is not unusual for each of them to see different things; when you are alone observing one behavior or a person at two different times, you may see different things. The followings are but some of the factors that lead to these varying perceptions(感知,认识): (1)Each persons perceptions of others are formed by his or her own cultural conditioning, education, and personal experiences.(2)Sometimes perceptions differ because of what we choose to observe and how we deal with what have observed. It is not necessarily true that person perception is based on observations of a particular person. Your observations may be totally controlled by what others have told you about this person; or you may focus primarily on the situation or role relationship. Most people do not use the same standard to measure their parents, their friends, and strangers.(3)Sometimes we see only what we want to see or dont see what may be obvious to others because of our own needs, desires, or temporary emotional states. This is a process known as selective perception. Selective perception is obviously more difficult when contradictory information is particularly obvious, but it can be done. We can ignore the stimulus“Hes basically a good boy so what I saw was not shoplifting(入店行窃).” We can reduce the importance of the contradictory information “All kids get into mischief(顽皮). Taking a book from a bookstore isnt such a big deal.” We can change the meaning of the contradictory information “It wasnt shoplifting because he was going to pay for it later.” 32. The first factor given by the author that affects our perception is _. A. our hearing and visual abilitiesB. the experience one learns from others C.cultural background and personal experiencesD. critical measures taken by other people33. While observing a particular person,_.A. one is likely to take all aspects into considerationB. one pays more attention to his/her advantagesC. children often differ from grown-ups in perceptionD. one tends to choose certain aspects to look at34. The underlined word “stimulus” in Paragraph 4 refers to _.A. something attractive B. selective perceptionC. contradictory informationD. Shoplifting35. The worst thing in selective perception is that _.A. the information received runs against your desireB. facts can be twisted or totally ignoredC. importance of the contradictory information can be overrated (估计过高)D. misbehaved children may not be punished第二节 (共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。 Most drinks stating that they are fruit-flavored (水果味道的) contain no fruit at all, while most of the rest contain only a small quantity of fruit, according to a study carried by the British Food Commission.“Shoppers need to check the labels before buying drinks, though sometimes the actual content can be non-existent,” said Food Commission spokesperson Ian Tokelove. “Food production is highly competitive. 36 It will increase profits, and consumers wont always realize they are being tricked.” Flavorings are focused on the flavors of natural food products such as fruits, meats and vegetables, or creating flavor for food products that do not have the desired flavors. Researchers analyzed the contents of 28 strawberry-flavored products sold in stores. 37 Of the 11 products that did contain strawberries, five of them contained less than one percent real fruit. In addition, each juice box contained nearly eight teaspoons of sugar. 38 Lets take jam as an example. Some strawberry-flavored jam was labeled as containing no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners, but it contained absolutely no strawberries at all. 39 Consumers have the rights to know clearly about what they have bought. Under current UK law, food packages do not have to distinguish between natural and artificial flavoring. “Describing a product as strawberry flavor and covering the surface of the packet with pictures of strawberries is misleading. 40 Unfortunately, it is also legal and widespread,”Tokelove said“Its time to take measures to protect the consumers rights.”A. The products which contain real fruit are popular with people.B. Even products advertised as more natural often contained no fruit.C. They found that about 60 percent of them didnt contain any fruit at all.D. If companies can cut their costs by using flavoring, they are likely to do so.E. It is important and necessary to demand a small amount of flavoring in the products.F. Actually the product contains just a tiny percentage of strawberry or even no fruit at all.G. The Food Commission suggested all flavors used in a product should be listed on the packaging. My father and I disagreed about curfew (晚间在家的时间).
