As a result, the youths turn to alcohol and other substances to self-medicate. According to the researchers, overwhelming and unrealistic goals are key to the pressure many of these children feel, and are what eventually leads to the behavioral problems. And its not only pressure to achieve specific academic goals, they say, but general feelings of isolation, especially from their mothers, that may be to blame. For girls in particular, a lack of after-school adult supervision was linked to problems. The study, conducted with more than 300 sixth and seventh graders in an affluent Northeastern community, revealed that seventh graders were three times as likely to use drugs than sixth graders. Boys in seventh grade who were considered popular and well-liked among their peers were more likely to be regular users of cigarettes, alcohol, and illegal drugs than were sixth grade boys and girls. The fact that they used these substances, however, drew out negative responses from their peers. The study also showed that: Seven percent of sixth-grade boys and 8% of sixth-grade girls smoked cigarettes. Six percent of seventh-grade girls and 7% of seventh grade boys had smoked marijuana ,mriju:n n. 大麻;大麻毒品 at least once in the year prior to the study. Seventh-grade girls who had good relationships with their fathers were more likely to have better grades. The study also showed that students who had the closest relationships with their mothers were least likely to smoke, use drugs and alcohol, or to show any symptoms of distress. Support needs to be introduced immediately, The drug addict has to be confident that there are people behind their success, They have to be responsible and accountable for everything that goes on during their treatment,.If you know someone who is abusing drugs, be sure to show them some type of understanding and dont point fingers because this can happen to anyone at anytime. Drug addicts feel that they are not loved enough. They feel that the drugs are their only friend and so that is why it becomes so important to them, How fa
