Unit10Imgoingtobeabasketballplayer教案 Unit 10 Im going to be a basketball player. Aims and Requirements: a. Knowledge objective To learn the following new words: dream, puter programmer, basketball player, pilot, engineer, teacher and actor and so on about job and some verb phrases of expressing how to do that. b. Ability objective To train students abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. c. Moral objective Enable the students to realize their dream jobs, and how to achieve them. Teaching key points: Understand the new words and dialogue. Then know how to read and write these key words and key sentences. Teaching difficult points: Talk about the ones dream job and discuss how to make it e true Teaching methods: Communicative approach, Using context, Role playing, Pair work etc. Teaching aids: Tape recorder, Slides, Pictures etc. Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Greeting T: Ok. Class begins. Morning, everyone! S: Morning, teacher. T: How are you today? S: Fine, thank you, and you? T: Fine, thank you. Today were going to learn a new lesson “Unit 10 Im going to be a basketball player”. (在黑板上写下Unit 10 I m going to be a basketball player.) Step 2 Lead-in T: First, I ask you a question. Do you know what do I do? S: You are our teacher. T: Yeah, right. Im your teacher. (Write “teacher” on the Bb) I teach you English, right? What do you do? S: Im a student. T: Yes, right! Do you remember any other words we have learnt about job? You please (Sa). Just have a try. Sa: T: Good remembering! Look at the pictures (PPT) here. Lets review some words we have learnt about job. What does she do? S: She is a doctor. T: What is he? S: (Use “What does she/he do? What her/his/their job? What be sb.?” these sentences again and again to review the jobs the students have learnt: doctor, policeman/policewoman, teacher, student, singer, player, nurse and writer.) Step 3 New words learning and drill T: Ok, very good! I think all of us must have a dream job. You please (Sb). Do you want to be a ? Sb: T: Really?Its a good choice. You please (Sc). What do you want to be when you grow up? Sb: T: Fantastic! You have a great dream job. Come on! Do you want to know what my dream job is when Im a child? S: Yes. T: Who can guess? S: T: Clever boys and girls. My dream is to be a pilot. (Write “pilot” on the Bb) Do you know what does the “pilot” mean? S: No. T: Let me show you a picture. (杨利伟) Then you must know the meaning of “pilot”. Do you know who is he? S: (Chinese) T: Bingo! Now do you know the meaning of “pilot”, right? S: Yes. T: Do you know who is he? (姚明) S: (Chinese) T: Right! He is a famous guy. Do you know what does he do? S: (Chinese) T: All right! Hes a famous basketball player. (Write “basketball player” on the Bb) This one, please (Sd).Do you know any other basketball players? S: T: Excellent! You must like basketball very much. Do you want to be a basketball player like him? S: T: Well, look at you go! Do you know this one (黄晓明)? S: (Chinese) T: Yes. He is “黄晓明”. Who is he? S: (Chinese) T: Well done. He is an actor. (Write “actor” on the Bb) He is very handsome, right? I like him very much. Now lets see another one. He is the richest man in the world. Can you guess? S: 比尔盖茨. T: So clever. But do you know what his job is? S: (Chinese) T: Very well. He is a puter programmer. (Write “puter programmer” on the Bb) Ok, now we learn the last new word today. It is “engineer”. Who can guess what the meaning of “engineer” is? S: T: Nobody knows? This new word may be a little difficult to learn. It means “工程师”. Read after me. Teacher! S: Teacher! (Read the new words: read together, read one by one and so on) T: Ok! Look here! Lets have some practice. Who is she in the 1st picture? Which word is right? S: (There are some pictures and new words on the screen in an asymmetric way. Match them with the students together.) T: You all have known these new words better, right? S: Yes! T: Good job! Now you can have a free talk about your dream job using the sentences “-What do you want to be when you grow up? -I want to be a/an ” Understand? S: Yes. T: 2minutes. Begin! (When the students are discussing, you can write the sentences of Grammar Focus on the Bb.) (Then ask some students to answer the questions.) Step 4 Presentation and practice T: When we say “what do you want to be when you grow up?” we can also replace this sentence with the sentence “What are you going to be when you grow up? (Change the sentence “What do you want to be when you grow up?” into “What are you going to be when you grow up?” on the Bb.)Understand? S: T: When others ask you like that, how can you answer this question? Who knows? S: T: Nobody? When others ask you what you are going to be when you grow up, you can say Im going to be Understand? (Change the sentence “I want to be ?” into “Im going to be ”on the Bb) S: T: Ok, now turn to page 59. Lets see 1b. If you are going to be a puter programmer, how are you going to do it? (Point to the sentence on the Bb. ) S: T: Good! We say I am going to study puter science, right? (Point to the sentence on the Bb. ) S: T: So how you are going to do that if you are going to be a professional basketball player? S: T: Right! Now lets have a try. You please. (Se) What are going to be when you grow up? Se: T: That sounds good! How are you going to do that? Se: T: You please. (Sf) What are you going to be when you grow up? Sf: T: Good idea! How are you going to be that? Sf: T: Great! Read these sentences after me! (Read) Next, make a dialogue in pairs with these sentences, understand? S: T: Start! (Some minutes later) T: Finished? S: (Then ask some pairs to do it.) Step 5 Make a survey T: (After finishing.) Everyone has a dream in his heart. Do you want to know others dream jobs? S: T: Now lets do a survey, ok? S: T: (Show a picture on PPT.) Look at this form. Four students as a group, then yourselves select a group leader. When you all finish the blank, Ill ask some every group leaders to e here to share the dream jobs of his group, understand? S: Name What is she/he going to be? How is she/he going to do?
