The major responsibility of the NLC includes: the collection and preservation of domestic and foreign publications; national coordination of document preservation and conservation work; provision of information and reference services to the central government, national authorities, social organizations, and the general public; research in the theory of library sciences and development of librarianship, and guidance to other libraries in China; the fulfillment of its function in international cultural exchanges through participation in the activities of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and other related international organizations, as well as the promotion of exchanges and cooperation with other libraries in China and abroad. 馆内指引Interior Guide读者入馆须知Rules and Regulations for Readers国家图书馆由位于文津街的古籍馆和位于白石桥的总馆南区、总馆北区构成，形成三位一体的馆舍布局。古籍馆主要提供普通古籍、外文善本、地方志家谱文献服务和临时主题展览服务；总馆南区提供外文文献、中外文专藏文献的专业性服务和国家典籍博物馆展陈服务；总馆北区提供以中文普通文献借阅、电子文献、音视频资源服务和少年儿童服务为主的大众服务。The National Library of China (NLC) consists of NLC Ancient Books Library located in Wenjin Street, NLC South Area and NLC North Area located in Baishiqiao, forming a trinity of library layout. The NLC Ancient Books Library provides research services based on general ancient books, rare books in foreign languages, chronicles and genealogies, and temporary thematic exhibition services. The NLC South Area provides professional services based on documents in foreign languages as well as special collections in Chinese and foreign languages, and display services of the National Museum of Classic Books; the NLC North Area provides services for the public, mainly including loan service and reading service of Chinese documents, electronic resources, audio-visual resources, and childrens services.1、本馆开架借阅区面向年满13周岁读者开放，13至15周岁读者入内须凭国家图书馆读者卡，其他读者凭国家图书馆读者卡或第二代居民身份证入内。1. Readers aged 13 and above can enter the open-stack reading area of the NLC. Readers aged from 13 to 15 can enter the open-stack reading area of the NLC North Area by presenting readers card of the NLC, while other readers by presenting readers card of the NLC or their second-generation ID card. 2、本馆闭架借阅区面向年满16周岁并持有国家图书馆读者卡的读者开放。2. Readers aged 16 and above can enter the closed-stack reading area of the NLC by presenting readers card of the NLC.3、少年儿童馆接待15周岁及以下少年儿童，凭读者卡入内。学龄前儿童须有监护人陪同，陪同监护人（限一位）凭有效证件入内。3. Children aged 15 and below can enter the NLC Childrens Library by presenting readers card. Children before school age entering the Childrens Library shall be accompanied by a guardian. Accompanying guardians (one guardian for one child) can enter the NLC Childrens Library with valid certificates.4、请妥善保管随身物品，大尺码箱包（大于18.4cm13cm）及其他与借阅无关的物品须凭有效读者卡或身份证免费寄存至存包处。4. Please take care of your belongings, and leave bags larger than 18.4 cm length x 13 cm width or other articles irrelevant to borrowing or reading in the lockers. Use your Readers Card or ID Card to rent a locker for free.5、请勿携带个人书、刊、报（含从本馆借出的图书）进入阅览区自习。5. Personal books, periodicals and newspapers (including those borrowed from the NLC) are not allowed in the Library.6、请勿在馆区内从事与国家图书馆所提供服务无关的活动。6. Any other activities irrelevant to services provided by the National Library of China are prohibited in the Library.7、请勿携带食品、液体物品入馆。7. Do not bring food or drinks to the Library.8、禁止在馆区内吸烟和使用明火,入馆须按规定接受安检，禁止携带易燃、易爆、有毒等危险品。8. Smoking is prohibited within the Library. Inflammable, explosive or toxic and dangerous items are not allowed in the Library.9、请注意仪表着装，衣冠整洁得体，言谈举止文明。9. Readers should be aware of their appearance, be dressed decently and be polite and civilized in the Library.10、请遵守公共秩序和国家图书馆相关管理规定，服从工作人员管理，自觉维护参观秩序和良好的阅读环境。10. Please abide by the regulations of the Library and follow the instructions of the Library staff.办证须知Reader Registration Regulations证卡种类申请条件办理手续证卡功能读者卡年满 16周岁的中国公民与外籍人士办理读者卡须本人持有效身份证件（身份证、户口簿、护照、军人证、港澳通行证、台胞回乡证、外国人永久居留证），到馆填写国家图书馆读者卡申请表后办理。不提供任何形式的异地办理、他人代办，首次办理时免除工本费。普通阅览室开架、闭架阅览；馆区数字资源用机服务；馆区无线网服务；部分远程数字资源服务；中国公民可开通外借、金融功能年满13周岁未满16周岁少年儿童由监护人陪同，办理读者卡须本人持有效身份证件（身份证、户口簿、护照、港澳通行证、台胞回乡证、外国人永久居留证）原件和复印件，到馆填写国家图书馆读者卡申请表（13-15周岁适用）后办理。不提供任何形式的异地办理、他人代办，首次办理时免除工本费。普通阅览室开架阅览；少年儿童馆阅览；少年儿童馆数字资源用机服务少年儿童图书馆读者卡未满13周岁少年儿童由监护人陪同，持本人和监护人有效身份证件（身份证、户口簿、护照、学籍卡、港澳通行证、台胞回乡证、外国人永久居留证）原件及复印件，到馆填写国家图书馆少年儿童图书馆读者卡申请表后办理。不提供任何形式的委托办理、他人代办，首次办理时免除工本费。少年儿童馆阅览；少年儿童馆数字资源用机服务第二代身份证年满 16周岁的中
