文档简介

Presentation 6 Page 1 of 2 Another important part of a presentation is the visual aspect of a presentation. The students have already learned their Opening and Linking skillsthe closing and summary will be in future lessons. Each slide is designed for adaptability. You can spend more or less time depending on students interest or participation. Below is a basic outline of what each slide is for, however adlib whenever necessary to increase interest of the students. Slide 2 Warm up Why are visual aids so important to a presentation? Elicit ideas from the students. See if they think visual aids are in fact important or not. Slide 3 Now show them this slide. See if they can understand the difference between a good visual aid and a bad one. Slide 4 The rest of the lesson will look at techniques in order to improve your presentation. Where they are not essential for a good presentation (have you ever seen Barak Obama using a PowerPoint?) they can ASSIST you with your presentation. Slide 5-16 Go through the slides. Slide 17 and 18 Most students dont understand the cropping feature and this must be demonstrated. The best way is with a piece of paper. Simply fold the paper and show them that you can no longer see some of the paper, however turn the paper and explain its STILL there. This is how cropping works it effectively hides part of the picture and does not CUT the part out. This is to create a focus on part of a picture and its a very important part of presentation skills which many people forget to do. You can also if you want to show the crop tool in use. Just stop the presentation and crop a picture from it to demonstrate. Slides 19-20 Show and Explain Slide 21 and 22 Demonstrate this point that by showing slide 22. Simply ask them. What does the slide say? The point being here is that less text is better than more text in most cases and bullet points are far easier to understand. Slide 23-27 These slides show be effective enough by showing them. The point is raised clearly enough. Presentation 6 Page 2 of 2 Slide 28 33 Work through these slides and demonstrate how the use of colors and pictures are more effective when they are used correctly. Many people make the mistake of putting many different colors onto the presentation when in fact this makes the presentation lose its message and point. Side 34 As this lesson covers many different points go back over using this slide. Try to quiz the students to check they remember them. Colour is important to your presentation Use the Transparency Option Use Bullet Points and correct Font Crop your pictures Shine things up when possible Use Pictures! Try not to use some of the over coloured templates Slides 35-39 This is the part where students get to present themselves. Students if possible need the opportunity to use a computer for this lesson to make a presentation. If its not possible then the techniques cannot be practiced as well as if they do have. Either way they can do the exercise. Students should be put into groups always. Dont single them out as there might be some very shy, inexperienced or scared students. They should already have presented once last lesson so you should now have some idea what they are capable of doing. Unless the students change each week as in some clubs. Generally groups of 3-4 work the best. Anymore and students wont get enough opportunity to talk. Try to balance your groups with some stronger and some weaker students (you should know this by know from the questioning in this lesson). Most importantly ensure they work as a GROUP not as individuals. Ensure they use English whenever possible to discuss what they will present. Timing for these slides can be varied depending on class time. Its possible to take 30mins to 1hour 30mi
