5、g? Where do you find bargain deals? What would you buy if you were given US$1,000? Lets compare the different malls or department stores at different countries. We will also exchanging stories or experiences of shopping. Convenient store can be an alternative site if neither malls nor department sto

6、res are near your school.,Grade Recommendation: 4-8 Throughout the year there are many holidays that people celebrate in different countries. In order to teach other participants from other countries about the holidays in your country, you will be presenting information about those holidays and what

7、 you do when you have the day off of school because of those holidays.,Grade Recommendation: 6-10 Money makes the world go round, or so they say. In this activity, students will research and present information about topics related to money in their countries. From what your currency looks like and

8、what banks are in your country, to topics such as buying a home and saving for college, students will begin to develop an understanding of the importance of money in their future lives. 9、tion: 10-12 Bacteria are everywhere, from in our intestines, to miles under the ocean. But, what are these microscopic creatures and how do they affect our lives? In this activity students will research and present information on bacteria, antibiotics and antibiotic resistance. These are important c

10、oncepts because they will shape how we are treated at the doctor and how clean we keep our homes. This activity is for advanced students because of the English skills required and depth of research and citation.,Grade Recommendation: All Grades The goals of this project are to gain an understanding

11、of educational culture in other countries. To accomplish this, the students must become more aware of their own educational culture and use the tools provided by APEC to learn more about schools from other countries. Education cultures of students in other countries will be compared and contrasted t

12、o your own, and the exchange of ideas and experiences will be emphasized. Appreciating and understanding cultural differences around the world is the most significant objective for this international collaborative learning project.,Grade Recommendation: 4-8 Newspapers are an important part of the wo

13、rld today. They give the people of a country daily news and information and help keep the population informed. In this project, you will be examining newspapers from all over the Pacific Rim, including the newspaper from your city.,Grade Recommendation: 4-8 This unit introduces you to the food pyram

14、ids in different countries. A food pyramid provides recommendations for a healthy diet. In addition to learning how to read the nutrition labels, you will also record what you eat in the cafeteria and at home. The culminating project leads to the design of a healthy menu with recipes.,Grade Recommen

15、dation: 4-7 We live on a large planet that has different weather patterns across it. At the same time of the year, the weather in Australia can be much different than the weather in Minneapolis or Japan. APEC Cyber Academy is a great opportunity for students to learn about how the weather is differe

16、nt across the part of the planet known as the Pacific Rim. In this project, students will create web pages that discuss the climate in their region, and will report on their weather observation. Students will also report on severe weather and natural disasters that can occur in their region and come
