1、Starter Unit 2Whats this in English?本单元共分为两课时:第一课时(1a2e)第二课时(3a4d)单元语言知识字母字母IR的正确拼读及书写词汇what,is,this,in,English,map,pen,ruler,orange,jacket,key,quilt,it,a,that,an,please,spell功能用语与话题会用英语辨认物品,拼写单词。(1)Whats this in English? (2)Spell it,please.单元知识详解1Whats this in English?这用英语怎么说?Whats that in English?
2、那用英语怎么说?this与that(1)thispron.这;这个,这人Look at this.瞧瞧这个。这;这个This pen is mine.这支笔是我的。今,本He will treat us to dinner this Friday.本星期五他要请我们吃饭。(2)thatpron.那;那个Thats my English teacher over there.那边是我的英文老师。That book isnt mine.那本书不是我的。另外,this不能与is缩略,that则可以。即:this isthissthat is thatsWhats this in English?也可
3、以用Whats the English for?来表达。2Its a map.Its an orange.它是地图。它是桔子。a与an都用于单数可数名词前,表示一个或一类事物。eg.:This is not a pear but an apple.这不是(一个)梨,而是(一个)苹果。An orange is orange.桔子是橙色的。(泛指一类)不同点是a用于以辅音音素开头的单词前(辅音当然指的是音标)。eg.:bed desk pen 的音标分别是以/b/d/p/辅音开头的,就用冠词a;an用于以元音音素开头的单词前(元音也指的是音标)。eg.:apple orange egg的音标都是以
4、元音开头的,就用冠词an。3Spell it,please.请拼一下。(1)spell v用字母拼;拼写。Can you spell your name,please?请问,你能拼一下你的名字?Yes.可以。Philip doesnt want to spell his name any more.菲利普不想再拼读他的名字了。I dont know how to spell the word.我不知道如何拼写这个单词。(2)it pron.它it在这里是人称代词的宾格形式,宾格常用于动词和介词后面,作动词和介词的宾语。it也可作人称代词的主格形式。英语中人称代词的主格、宾格形式,现列举如下:主
5、格:I,we,you,you,he,she,it,they宾格:me,us,you,you,him,her,it,them(3)please v请句中用please表示礼貌,语气委婉,通常放在句首或句末。例如:Whats your name,please?请问你叫什么名字?Please sit down.请坐。Wheres the bookshop,please?请问书店在哪儿?单元资料链接英文字母IR的起源Ii 字母I源自腓尼基语中叫做yod/yodh的象形字母,该字母被认为代表人的手指。最初小写字母I并不带点。I上面的点是11世纪以后抄写员为区分字母I连写(如filii)与字母u才开始加上
6、去的。此外,在19世纪以前i和j的书写或印刷形式是可互换的,词典也不将它们作为两个不同的字母来对待。如在Samuel Johnson(17091784)所编的英语词典中,iambic排在jamb和jangle这两个词的中间。英语的I相当于希腊语的I(iota)。Jj字母J是莎士比亚时代后(postShakespearean times),约在1630年产生的,和V并称英语字母表中两个最轻的字母。英国国王詹姆斯一世于1611年颁行的圣经钦定英译本中就没有J或j这一字母。正如G是基于C构成的,J是由I衍生而来,即在I上加一尾巴构成。然而,直至19世纪I、J的书写形式或印刷形式一直可以互换,并未完全
7、分家。Kk字母K的根源也可追溯到古代腓尼基语。在腓尼基语字母表里,K乃象形符号,代表人的手。希伯来语把它叫做kaph,即“手(掌)”之意。希腊人借用后作K(kappa)。古罗马时期,犯诽谤罪者的前额被打上K的印记,K代表kalumnia,即相当于英语calumny(诽谤)。Ll在腓尼基和希伯来字母表中,L叫lamed/lamedh,是表示刺棒(oxgoad)或鞭子的象形符号。希腊语中的相应字母是A(lambda)。Mm 如同别的字母,M也可一直追溯到古腓尼基语。腓尼基人勇于探险,以海上贸易著称,航行曾远至西班牙海岸。M在腓尼基字母表里是表示海浪形状的象形符号。希伯来语把它叫做mem,即为“水”
8、之意。希腊语的相应字母为M(mu)。在中世纪凡犯罪(manslaugter)者左姆指上往往被烙以M之印记。M在罗马数字中表示1000(拉丁语作mille)。Nn 字母N在埃及象形字里呈波浪形,在腓尼基语中叫做nun,意为“鱼”,而希腊语的相应字母则为N(nu)。Oo许多语言都有形似O的字母,而且都代表人的眼睛。在一些古老的字母表里有的O当中还加了个点,表示瞳孔。在腓尼基语中O叫cayin,意为“眼睛”,在古英语里O叫oedel,意为“家”。Pp P,英语字母表的第16个字母,古代腓尼基人和希伯来人称之为pe,意为“嘴”。希腊语的相应字母为II(pi)。16世纪有一位名叫Placentius的多
9、明我会修道士(Dominican friar)写了一首题为Pugna Porcorum,由253个六音步诗行组成的诗,诗中每个词 的首字母均为p。这恐怕是亘古及今绝无仅有的。QqQ,英语字母表的第17个字母,系由腓尼基语和希伯来语的第19个象形字母演变而来。Q的形状有点像垂着尾巴的猴子。无怪乎腓尼基语把该字母叫做qoph,意思就是“猴子”。在英语中Q后面几乎总跟着U,它绝少出现在词尾,除非是外来语。Rr R,英语字母表的第18个字母,系由腓尼基语和希伯来语的第20个象形字母演变而来。腓尼基人称之为resh,意为“头”。从古罗马时代起,R一直被称作dogs letter或snarling let

13、 orange.Hold the key up and ask “Whats this in English?”“Its a key.”Students can give answers.Repeat the same questions and then get students to answer.If possible,use flashcards to teach the spelling of the words.Put a flashcard beneath a drawing of each object.Let Ss pay attention to “a ”and “an”,
