1、A brief introduction to different dancesThe Waltz is one of the oldest of our dance rhythms. Its step is very floating and can easily show dancers felling and thoughts. Its language is sweet and sad at the same time. It often brings the memory of love into ones mind. Its roots go back to Austria and

2、 the Middle Ages, to peasant dances known as the “weller” and “laendler.” The dance form as we know it today comes from 19th century English society, where it was first considered scandalous. Never before had a man taken a woman into his arms publicly. But when Queen Victoria was fond of the dance,

These were joined together by the slaves in the southern United States in the 19th century. In the 1920s metal taps were attached to shoe heels and toes

5、 to produce a more powerful sound. It is popular nowadays in many parts of the world. The name comes from the tapping sound made when the small metal plates on the dancers shoes touch a hard surface. This lively, rhythmic tapping makes the performer a powerful dancer.1. It is different from all other Ballroom dances in that one starts movement with the heel of the foot rather than the ball of the foot, to give the dance that cat-like movement of having caught its animal. It can be similar to the love dance of many animals. Eye contact which

RocknRoll refers to a very sporty, competitive form of dance. It is danced by both couples and groups, either all-female or 4-8 couples together

11、. The most important characteristics of rock and roll dance are its kicks (into thin air) and its features like lifts, jumps, throws and turns. Todays rock and roll is focused on show and competition dance. Because of its difficult movement and high speed, rock and roll is a high-performance dance a

12、nd is most often performed by young dancers.Disco first appeared in the early 1970s when clubs started to play music on records to the audience. So Disco usually includes happy and loud music specially made for dance in order to get people on the dance floor and make them dance. In the early 1980s,

13、disco music became less popular but it still had an important influence on the dance types produced in the 1980s and 1990s. Break dancing was an influential form of dance in the poor areas of New York City during the end of the 1970s and early 1980s. B-boys, as break dancers were called, would dance

14、 two at a time and try to come up with a group of moves that would prove their skills to be better than their partners. Nowadays breaking dancing is a popular youth culture. However its not easy to dance. It does not work simply by learning a few moves and showing them off. You have to spend lots of time doing a continuous amount of practice.
