2、, bad system, dignity, compromise and so on, all of the above are involved in this film. though the film is not very long, it is necessary to watch it for one more time. even so, i think i still understand a little about it. “the crucible is a 1950s play about the salem witch trials by arthur miller

3、. miller wrote this play during the time of mccarthyism in america. many people were afraid that communism would stop the american way of life. some people falsely accused their enemies of being communists during this time. miller writes about the ideas of fear and false accusation in this play.” th

4、is is the description of the books background from wikipedia. we can see from the words above that the film not only shows the cultural significance but also indicates the political significance. here i want to express my opinions and feelings about this film from three aspects including love, human

5、 nature and system. first part is about love. what is love? love is selfless dedication and give, loving someone doesnt mean occupying him. in the film, there are two kinds of love. one is between abigail and proctor, the other is between proctor and his wife elizabeth. the former was not legal and

6、allowable and it resulted in the tragedy which killed 19 innocent lives in the end of the film. abigail was previously the maid for the proctors house. she was fired by proctors wife elizabeth when elizabeth discovered her affair with proctor. since then, she hated elizabeth damage her fame and she

7、wanted to kill elizabeth and occupy proctor through the witchcraft. however, her uncle parris discovered when the witchcraft ceremony was held. after, a series of disaster happened. in order to protect herself, abigail told lies to framed others. gradually, she found that all people were cheated by

8、her lies. finally, she accused elizabeth of witchcraft. proctor, who had been keeping silence for a long time, wanted to expose her lies and tell the truth. to our surprise, lies covered up the truth. because of abigails lies, 19 innocent people were killed. in the end, proctor chose death to protec

9、t his dignity and name and abigail had to leave on her own. her jealousy led to the tragedy and she finally got nothing but proctors death. the love between proctor and elizabeth was touching. proctor made a mistake that he had improper relationship with abigail. therefore, elizabeth felt sad about

10、her husbands infidelity and quarreled with proctor. though she cant forgive her husband, she still told lies for her husbands fame. here we can see elizabeth loved her husband. also, proctor decided to admit the improper relationship with abigail just to save his wifes life without caring his own fa

11、me and safety. in my opinion, the love between the couple was so deep that the mistake proctor made couldnt destroy it. elizabeth didnt stop proctor when he decided to give up his life for his dignity and name. this plot showed her understanding and support for her husband despite she loved him too

12、much. this was true love which is selfless and respectable.obviously, the film isnt just a love story. humanity is another theme of the film. in the second part, i will talk about the opinions on the human nature.never judge a person only by his or her appearance. abigail looked beautiful, kind and

13、pure. if i didnt finish the film, i am sure i cant help loving her for her beauty. buy when i finished the film, i cant help myself being afraid of her. she reminded me of a phrase- femme fatale which we say “she xie mei ren” in chinese. behind her beautiful appearance was a dirty and ugly heart. th

14、ere is no doubt that the actresss performance is perfect. i see beauty and ugliness from one person. she showed the ugly human nature including jealousy, evil and selfless. and in the progress of the tragedy, we can see selfless from the girls involved in the witchcraft that they followed abigails l

15、ies because of fear. also, we see the folly from the residents in salem that they screamed towards air and were afraid of the inexistent evil. whats more, we see the greed from the rich man who asked his daughter to framed his neighbor for his neighbors land. when the innocent people were hanged, vi

16、llagers felt excited and scorned. i cant imagine how they can be so cold-hearted! the plot is similar to the story in the blood steamed bread written by lu xun. it is out of my expectation that the similar phenomenon didnt only exist in china. in the progress of the tragedy, all sorts of ugly human

17、nature were exposed to sunshine. of course, the bright side of human nature was shown in the film as well. though he couldnt make a difference, mr. hale woke up in time and stop himself from making more mistakes. and proctor refused to lie and insisted on his dignity and name. they were all heroes n

18、o matter what the result was. they didnt give up their conscience and principles even when facing the power. i felt sad and depressive when i saw proctor shout that “god is dead”. in the film, evil beat justice. the tragedy cannot be attributed only to ugly human nature and abigails jealousy, the ro

19、tting system also had a side effect on it.when the judge reached salem, the situation didnt become better and even become worse. i think the judge couldnt ascertain the facts at all. he believed the existence of evil because doubting the existence of evil meant doubting the existence of god. unifica

20、tion of the state and the church limited the identification of the truth. it seemed that the survey was meaningful only when the evil existed. as a result, they were not willing to believe that the evil was just a joke.priest hale was aware of his mistakes in time and attempted to stop the wrong act

21、ions but he failed. what he could control was just himself. the judge didnt want to find the truth, he just planned to prove that evil existed and he could destroy evil. blind faith is as terrible as blind worship. the system under the unification of the state and the church decided that the truth w

22、as not as important as the belief that god and evil existed. however, more and more doubtful points appeared when even proctor who was recognized honest was charged. under the circumstances, the judge had to agree to reopen the case. in order to protect his own fame, the judge requested proctor to a

23、dmit his guilty of having contact with the evil. only lies could exchange for the truth! between dignity and life, proctor chose to face the death bravely. this drives the movie entered a climax. i saw a brave fight against the bad system and the power.according to the film, there isnt justice under

24、 a bad system. in china, political system vulnerabilities has resulted in many problems nowadays. but many chinese people are not aware of this and do not care about the building of our political system. from my stand point, it is necessary for realization of a harmonious society to build a more scientific and thoro
