6、d to be used for the hous ing of latri ne fitme nts; latrinefitment （厕所设备）meansa fitment containing a receptacle for excreme nt, which is removable; manhole（ 沙井）means a chamber constructed on a drain or sewer to provide access thereto for in spect ion, testi ng and the cleara nee of obstructi ons; n

7、 ullah（ 大沟渠）in cludes any trained streamcourse; private sewer（ 私家污水渠）means a sewer which is not a public sewer; public channel（公共渠道）meansa channel vested in and maintained by the Gover nment; public sewer（公共污水渠）means a sewer vested in and maintained by the Gover nment; rain water pipe（雨水管）meansa pip

8、e used or constructed to be used for carrying off surface water directly from roof surfaces, verandahs and balc oni es; septic tank（ 化粪池）means a tank, for the recepti on of soil and waste from a building,in which the liquificationof solid organic matter occurs; （L.N. 361 of 1980） slop sink （污水盆） mea

9、ns a sink used or constructed to be used for recei ving solid or liquid excreme nt; sludge（污泥）means the layer of material settled to the bottom of a septic tank where reducti on by an aerobic decompositi on occurs; （L.N. 361 of 1980） soil（ 便溺污水）means the discharge from a soil fitment; soil fitment（便

10、溺污水设备）means a watercloset fitment, trough watercloset, urin al, slop sink, bidet or any similar fitme nt; soil pipe（便溺污水管） meansa pipe used or constructed to be used for carry ing off soil; sub-soil water（ 地下水）means water occurri ng n aturally below the surface of the ground; surface water（地面水）means

11、rain water from any part of a building includingany paved area or ground, whether paved or not, appurtenant to any build ing; trade effluent（工商业污水）means any liquid, either with or without particles of matter in suspension therein, which is wholly or in part produced in the course of any trade or in

12、dustry; waste（ 废水）means used water from a waste fitment or similar fitme nt; waste fitment （废水设备）meansa bath, lavatory basin or sink, other than a slop sink; waste pipe（废水管）meansa pipe used or constructed to be used for carry ing off waste; water authority（ 水务监督）and waterworks（水务设施）have the meaning

13、assig ned to them by sect ion 2 of the Waterworks Ordi nance （Cap 102）. （L.N. 62 of 1966） Cap 1231 reg 3 Interpretation of Part II PART II STANDARDS OF SANITARY FITMENTS In the regulati ons in this Part, uni ess the con text otherwise requires- factory（ 工厂）,mi ne（ 矿场）and in dustrial un dertaki ng（工业

14、 经营）have the meaning assigned to them by section 2 of the Factories and In dustrial Un dertak ings Ordi nance （Cap 59）; habitable space（可居住空间）means the aggregate of the areas of the floors in a building,excluding kitchens, staircases, staircase halls, lift landin gs, the space used in providi ng the

15、 watercloset fitme nts, urinals and lavatory basins, required, by this regulation,to be provided, and any space occupied by mach inery for any lift; livingroom（起居室）meansany room intended or adapted as a place for cook ing or sleep ing; public dance hall（公众舞厅）means any place opened, kept or used for the purpose of dancing, to which the general public is admitted, f with or without payme nt for admissi on; residential building（住宅建筑物）means a domestic building, but does not include any hostel, dormitory or other room or premises provided for housing or
