1、Oral Presentation of the Teaching Plan forPeriod 2, Module 4, SEFC Book 1I. Teaching Material AnalysisThis selected part is taken from module 4, SEFC Book 1, Fine Arts Western, Chinese and Pop Arts. The first four paragraphs of the reading material introduce four famous artists, such as their nation

2、ality, painting style, reputation and contribution. After reading the first four paragraphs, students are able to know more detailed information of the four masters. In the last two paragraphs, two students give their opinions on arts. By reading them, students could know how to show likes and disli

3、kes in various ways. What is more, students can use them both in their speaking and writing.II. Teaching Objectives1. 6、learn ”S.o , teachers must help students build up their own ways to study. We cannot be restricted by some factors, but should try to motivate students and make the class become more active and funny. It is also important for the students to communicate with their classmates actively, share their op

7、inions with each other and discuss how to solve problems. Based on all these, in this class, I will encourage students to use the following learning methods:(1) Autonomous learning method;(2) Communicative or cooperative learning method.VI. Teaching Methods1. The main teaching methods include: scann

8、ing, skimming and summarizing; task-based method; group work; guided-discovery method; inductive method; discussion; transition device. These different methods could improve their skills of reading. Definitely, PWP MODEL is used.2. Teaching Aids: textbook, pictures.VII. Teaching ProceduresStep I Lea

9、d-in (3mins)After greeting my students, I will show a picture of Mona Lisa and ask students a series of questions. For example, who is this woman, who paints it, what does he do, etc. Through these questions, we can focus students attention on arts and lead them to pre-reading activities.Step II Pre

10、-reading (10mins)In this step, students are encouraged to speak out more words related to arts to realize brainstorming, laying a foundation for the study of this passage, or for the very activity of reading. After it, ask students to choose one picture from Page 32 and describe what is in the pictu

11、re with their partner. Then invite two to three groups to show their description. After this step, we will go to the reading part of this period.Step III While-reading (24mins)This step will be carried out in several sub-steps. First is skimming. Simply ask students to read through the passage quick

12、ly so as to know how the passage moves on, or simply speaking, how many parts this passage can be divided into. More than that, students should speak out the reasons for this division. In this way, students can be more clear how the author develops his article. This step aims to enhance studentsskim

13、ming skill and the ability to summarize. Secondly, match the four paintings with Paragraph A, B, C, D and find out which two pictures are mentioned in paragraph E and F. By this means, scanning skill is trained. Then the teaching procedure will move to careful reading. In careful reading, firstly, a

14、sk students to make a prediction and then read paragraph A to D carefully, simply focusing on the nation, reputation and painting style of the painters. Through asking and answering, students and the teacher work together to finish the table related to the four painters discussed about in the passag

15、e. Besides, they are also expected to finish the first three questions in Activity 3 by using key words to locate. Secondly, ask students to read Paragraph E and F, finding out the expressions used to show opinions. Thirdly, give one or two examples to show the scene in which the expressions are use

16、d. Till now, while-reading comes to an end. This step is designed to fulfill the understanding of the passage in the process of reading. Meanwhile, it is also to enable students to learn to give opinions on their likes and dislikes.Step IV Post-reading (6mins)This step is designed to settle students

17、 possible problems and difficulties in understanding the article so that the learned knowledge can be consolidated, the teaching objectives can be fully realized and students can lay necessary basis for later da ysstudy. If students have no questions, they may use the time to practice their oral Eng

18、lish by expressing their likes and dislikes to something, stating clearly the reasons and trying to convince others. At last, a volunteer is asked to set an example to the others. When the teacher makes a summary of this student s introduction, he / she should remind students of the key points of th

19、is period by the way.Step V Summary and Homework (2mins)Have a quick review of what we have learnt this class and give students proper assignment. Firstly, finish the last three questions in Activity 3. Secondly, two students work in a group and interview one of the foreign teachers in our school. You can focus on food, weather or people in Neijiang. Write a report by using the expressions. This is the further and extended practice of what has been studied in class. Besides, this free-style exercise can effectively arou setu dents in
