Doing Time (the title) 自作自受 do (ones) time是一个动词短语,意思是“one is jailed for the wrong things one has done 坐牢,蹲监 狱;服刑”。本文讲的是作者
8、由于不认方向而吃苦头的故事,笔调诙谐幽默,作者用这个成语作 标题是故意夸张以博读者一笑。 关于这个动词短语的用法再看下面的两个例子: e.g. (1) Hes doing time for the theft he committed. 他因犯偷窃罪而在坐牢。 2. It all had to do with both my car and my very bad sense of direction. 这一切都是和我的汽车,还有 我那糟透的方向感有关。 do with.: to be connected with 和有关系 e.g. I have nothing to do with it.
