My View on the History of English Language Education in China

2、xamination is really high. that is why the chinese students are crazy about english.ele has a long history in china, we can date back to qing dynasty. but, from the late qing dynasty to now, english language taught as a required course officially. in the view of overall situation, we can divide the

3、history of ele into 6 periods. the first period is the years before 1949. it includes the qing dynasty, the chinese republic and the years before the foundation of people republic of china. the second period is from the year 1949 to 1956, it mainly shows the soviet influences to china s ele. the thi

4、rd period is from the year 1956 to 1966; it shows the experimentation period of ele in new china. the forth period is from the year 1966 to 1976, it is a chaos period, because of the cultural revolution. the fifth period is from the year 1976 to 1986 , during this period , it shows us a fast recover

5、y, innovation and reform period of ele in china. the sixth period is from the year 1986 to 1996, during this period, ele was reformed.from all the six periods, we can see how the ele in china had developed. it had experienced ups and downs. fortunately, ele had well developed now, but, it still keep

6、s a lower level than other countries. my view first of all, why the governments allow people to learn english? why they support to establish the english department or english specialized school? that mainly because we chinese people have the need to communicate with the westerners, we need to learn

7、the advanced technology from the western. in the late qing dynasty, with the first opium war and the second opium war defeated , the qing government realized that we need to learn the advanced technology from the western, at first, we need to understand their languageenglish. so, they established “tungwen college” in 1862. until now , ele is very important in china.secondly, church schools play a important role in chinas ele starting period thirdly, the
