2、a con fessi on al.2. what should the resume content be about?its not just about p ast jobs! its about you, and how you p erformedand what you acplished in those past jobs-especiallythose acplishmentsthat are most releva nt to the work you want to do n ext. a good resume p redicts how you might p erf

3、orm in that desired future job.3. whats the fastest way to improve a resume?remove everyth ing that starts with res pon sibilities in cluded andrep lace it with on-the-job acp lishme nts.4. what is the most mon resume mistake made by job hun ters?leav ing out their job objective! if you dont show a

4、sense of directi on, empio yers wont be in terested. hav ing a clearly stated goal does nt have to confine you if its stated well.5. whats the first ste p in writ ing a resume?decide on a job target that can be stated in about 5 or 6 words.anything bey ond that is p robably fluff and in dicates a la

13、 your work place, the n you describe what you did about it, andfin ally you point out the ben eficial results.heres an exa mple: tran sformed a disorga ni zed,in efficie nt warehouseinto a smooth-r unning op erati on by totally redesig ning the layout; this saved the pany thousa nds of dollars in re

14、covered stock.fili ng system. p rojectanother example: improved an engineeringpanys obsoletesystem by developing a simple but sophisticatedfunctional-codingthis saved time and moneyby recovering valuable, previously lost, records.12. what if your job title does nt reflect your actual level of respon

15、 sibility?whe n you list it on the resume, either rep lace it with a more appropriate job title or use their job title and your fairer one together, admi nistrative assista nt13. how can you avoid age discrim in ati on?if youre over 40 or 50 or 60, remember that you dont have to present your en tire

16、 work history! you can sim ply label that part of your resume rece nt work history or releva nt work history and the n describe only the last 10 or 15 years of your experienee. below your 10-15 year work history, you could add a p aragra ph headed p rior releva nt exp erie nee and simply refer to an

17、y additi onal imp orta nt jobs without men ti oning dates.14. what if you never had any real paid jobs - just self-employment or odd jobs?give yourself credit, and create an accurate, fair job-title for yourself.for exa mple:a&s hauli ng & clea ning - orhousehold rep airma n, self-e mpio yed

19、i ess your juiciest work exp erie nee is from farther back.16. how can a stude nt list summer jobs?students can make their resume look neater by listing seasonal jobsvery simply, such as spring 1996 or summer1996 rather than 6/96 to 9/96.17. what if you dont quite have your degree or crede ntials ye

20、t?you can say someth ing like:eligible for crede ntials - orgraduate studies in in structi onal desig n, in p rogress - or masters degree an tici pated december 199718. what if you worked for only one empio yer for 20 or 30 years?the n list sep arately each differe ntp ositi on you held there, so yo

24、le nt to bachelors econo mics-tehera n, ira n.23. what about fan cy-schma ncy paper?empioyers tell me they hate parchment paper anddegree inp rete ntiousdont mystify the reader about your gender; theyll go nuts until they robin or patbrochure-folded resume p rese ntati ons. they think theyre phony, and toss them right out. use plain white or ivory, in a quality approp riate for your job objective. n ever use colored paper uni ess theres a very good rea
