2、evelopment The mascot （吉祥物）of Shanghai Expo is “Haibao”, which in Chinese means the treasure of the ocean. Its designed to resemble（类似，比拟） the Chinese character for “human”, which corresponds to（符合） the theme of the Expo.The emblem（象征，标志）, depicting （描绘）the image of three people-you, me, him/her hol

3、ding hands together, symbolizes （象征）the big family of mankind. Inspired by the shape of the Chinese character (meaning the world), the design conveys the organizers wish to host an Expo which is of global scale and which showcases （显示，展览）the diversified urban cultures of the world The China Pavilion

4、 is designed with the concept of “the Crown of the East”. The traditional Chinese wooden structure architecture elementDougong brackets(九宫格） is introduced. The design concept can be summarized into 16 words, “the Crown of the East, the Crest of Chinese（中国至尊）（中国至尊）, the Barn for the World （世界之窗）and W

5、ealthy People（人民小康）”. The height of China National Pavilion is 63 meters and the cascade （瀑布）levels shape urban sculpture（雕塑） to reflect the landmark （地标）of China Pavilion. The Regional Joint（局部连接） Pavilion is 14 meters high and extends the city texture horizontally to shape a solid base of the buil

6、ding and construct a space for public activities in the city.
