3、when I choose my future career. In my view,our career choices largely depend on how and where we have been brought up. I come from a poor urban family and my parents were both laid off workers. In order to finance my tuition,they have been working hard over the past four years. As the only son in my

4、 family,I have to shoulder the burden of supporting my family. In short,salary is the first and only consideration in my choice of career.Certificate Craze on CampusIn recent years, getting a certificate has become a new craze among college students. Just randomly ask a student on campus what he or

5、she is busy doing; quite possibly, you may get the answer that he or she is preparing for a certificate of some kind. Why does this craze appear?There are mainly two reasons behind this phenomenon. First, it is the employment pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. With the a

6、dmissionexpansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job market. How can one make himself more competitive? More certificates at hand, maybe. Second, diploma and certificates are still important standards by which many employers measure a persons ability. In

7、 order to increase the qualifications for a job, the students compel themselves to run from one exam to another.From my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove ones ability. Being crazy in getting certifications blindly is

8、nothing but wasting time. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value.Smoking in publicNot allowing smoking in public places and office buildings is a very good rule. I believe this for several reasons. Not only will banning smoking impro

9、ve people's health, it will also increase worker productivity and reduce conflicts.We all know smoking is not healthy. Unfortunately, when smokers are able to smoke in public buildings, they can make other people sick. They may work with people who are allergic to smoking, for example. In that c

10、ase, the non-smokers have no choice unless they want to quit their jobs. They can only get sicker, which is unfair. Of course, banning smoking in public buildings and offices will please non-smokers. It will also improve the smokers' health. They will have fewer opportunities to smoke, so they w

11、ill smoke fewer cigarettes.Banning smoking in office buildings can also increase worker productivity. Smokers won't interrupt their work all the time to smoke. There will also be fewer worker absences. When smokers cut down the number of cigarettes, they will get fewer smoking-related illnesses.

12、Finally, it is a good idea to ban smoking in public places and office buildings because a ban can reduce conflicts. Non-smokers tend to get annoyed and jealous because smokers have an excuse to take frequent breaks. The most significant conflict, however, is over whether smokers have a right to smok

13、e in public. As we have already seen, non-smokers feel they are not always given a choice. If smoking in public is allowed, they will be forced to breathe harmful air. This may violate their rights, and nonsmokers are angry with smokers because of it.Travelling and WastesNowadays, though the awarene

14、ss of protecting environment is being accepted by more and more people, we can still see many unpleasant scenes especially in scenic spots. Why does this phenomenon arise? Many factors are accounting for it. First and foremost, to some people, the consciousness of protecting environment is still not

15、 so strong. They may not think it is a big deal to throw rubbish everywhere. In addition, the environmental management system isnt so satisfying. For example, in some places therere few regulations or the implementation is seldom performed actually.From what has been discussed above, it is urgent to

16、 take some effective and relative measures. In the first place, we should continue to conduct more propaganda in communities and schools so as to let people realize the importance of protecting environment. In the second, more rules should be made and carried out by the government to restrain the co

17、nduction of destroying environment. People should work together to create clean and beautiful surroundings.Turning off TVThere is an interesting and instructive saying which goes like this: turning off TV.Different people have different views on it .Some people tend to take the attitude that it is u

18、ndesirable to turn off Tv .They point out that TV is the important way for us to get the information in present society.Through the TV ,we can not only know the things abroad and at home but also acquire all kinds of knowledge. In additon, we are able to relax ourselves after working for the whole d

19、ay .In conclusion ,we should not turn off TV.At the same time ,we also can not ignore the bad influence on us .First and foremost ,some people are addicted to TV.Once they watch a movie or teleplay ,they will not do any other things.Though they do other things , they are likely to make a lot of mist

20、akes.Accordingly, some people hold the view that turning off TV is a correct way .To some up the above arguments,we can come to the conclusion that we can watch TV but we must have a right attitude toward it.Private Cars and Traffic AccidentsTraffic accidents are known as one of the most serious pro

21、blems in today's society .We can see it almost everywhere. A mojority of them are caused by private cars.Indeed,the phenomenon of private cars has many advantages. First ofall,the increasing number of private cars stands for the growth of economy. Further more,the private cars growing ,it is con

22、venient for us to go outside and we can go anywhere anytime.In the meantime,we must realize the disadventage of the issue of traffic accidents.Most traffic accidents result from private cars .The increasingnumber of private cars may give rise to a host of problems.For instance,the traffic accidents,

23、traffic jam and so on, especially the traffic accidents,they may make a lot of people injured and also die.As far as I am concernend, the proper attitude towards private cars and traffic accidents is that we should take a series of effective measures to cope with the situation.On the one hand ,the d

24、rivers should follow the traffic rules.On the other hand,if it is not necessary , we can go outside by bus.My view on honestyHonesty is long-lasting virtue of people all over the world.
