英语单词中的比较级

1、没有比较级、最高级的形容词和副词英语中， 有些形容词和副词没有比较等级， 这主要是由于本身词义的缘故， 在语 义上不存在差别，这类词可称为不可分级形容词或副词。主要有下列几类：1 、本身就有比较级含义的词：senior 年长的、较高的， junior 年少的、较低的， prior 在先的， anterior 前 面的， inferior 次于、下等的， superior 优于、上等的， posterior 以后的， major 主要的， minor 次要的、较小的。在使用这些词时无须加 more ，也不能和 than 连用，而要用介词 to 引出比较 对象（这种表示法也称为拉丁比较级）。例如：

7、、表示 “绝对 ”意义的词： absolutely(ly) 绝对， entire(ly) 完全， whole (wholly) 全部， complete(ly) 完整， thorough(ly) 彻底， total(ly) 全部， perfect(ly) 完美， excellent(ly) 极好， wonderful 极好的， marvelous 极妙的， incredible 不可相信的。12. limit adjective (极限形容词) 极限形容词是指本身就表达一个绝对、 极端意义的形容词。 此类形容词通常不能 用于比较级和最高级。 属于该类的常见形容词有： perfect, uniq

8、ue, impossible, worthless, speechless, empty, full, disgusting, amazed, terrific, marvelous, excellent, exhausted, inferior等等。但这些词前却可以带诸如absolutely, completely, quite, totally, utterly 等的程度副词作修饰语，表 示最高的程度；还可带有诸如 almost, nearly, practically, virtually 等程度 副词，表示接近最高的程度之意。13. non-gradable adjectives (非

9、程度形容词) 此类形容词不能表示 程度的不同，只可表 是与非。如， married (已婚) 一词，我们不能说一个人 more married 或 less married，属于该类的常见形容词有： 1 )表示国籍的形容词， 如 Chinese, British, American, Spanish 等等； 2 )表示颜色的形容词，如 red, blue, yellow等； 3)表示方向、方位的形容词，如 northern, southern, eastern, western, middle, right, left, outdoor, indoor, 等等；以及其它像 monthly, w
