Ill explain how to teach and why to do so from the following 4 aspects.、Understandin
2、g of the teaching material1. Status and functionThe theme of Unit 6 is about life goals. Ss are familiar with and interested in this topic. In this period, I will teach the key vocabulary about jobs firstly and then the target language with various activities. By studying this part, well enable stud
3、ents to express future goals and improve their skills .The target language is the basic contents of this unit. So its very important to learn this lesson well. 2. Teaching aims and demands:a) Knowledge objectivesFirst, Ss should master and use the key words and phrases properly, such as pilot, compu
4、ter programmer, pianistThey should know how to use “What do you want to be when you grow up?” to ask others and also should know to use the new learnt structure “I want to be a/anwhen I grow up.”, “I am going to ”to explain their goals. b) Ability objectivesSecond, Ss are the real master of the clas
5、s. I will give them more chance to speak out by pair-woks and group-works. In this way, I can improve students ability of cooperating with others. Ability of listening is also the point Id like to emphasize on. Based on exercise, they will listen to a piece of material. The ability of making a small
6、 conversation is also an important part I want to improve.c) Moral objectives They should have a clear understanding of the importance of studying hard.3. Teaching important/ difficult points:Now I talk about the important points, the important points of this lesson are words and the usage of “I wan
7、t to be a/an”“I am going to ”to express goals.The difficult points of this lesson are listening and speaking.、Analysis of the studentsThe students have learnt English for more than one year. They know some English, but most of them are afraid to speak English. For this lesson , the Ss have known the
8、 pattern “will be”. But they dont know to use “be going to as future. Most students have mastered the simple jobs, such as teacher, doctorbut they dont know some difficult new words like computer programmer, pilot So this is what I teach in this period.III、Teaching methods and studying waysTeaching
9、methods In this lesson Ill mainly use the Communicative Approach and Pair-work as the main teaching methods. That is to say, Ill let the Ss get a better understanding of the target language. Ill give the Ss some tasks and arrange 4 kinds of activities: making up conversations, listening practice, gr
10、oup and pair work activities, making a small survey and report. I will use PPT as my teaching aids.2Studying waysAs for the studying ways, students will learn through speaking out and communicating and cooperating with their partners. They also should pay attention to the key information in listenin
11、g practice.IV、Teaching procedureHere comes the most important part, my teaching procedure, it includes 7 steps.Step 1 Greeting and Lead-in 1 .It will cost 2 mininutes. I will talk with them about some simple communication language and let them into the English environment as soon as possible.2. Go o
12、ver some words of jobsIt will cost 3 mins. I will introduce two of my friends and let Ss guess their jobs. I will ask: What do I do? All the Ss can answer you are a teacher. Then ask about their dream jobs.Purpose of my design: to review the simple jobs learnt,which is the basic of this lesson.Step
13、2 New words learning and drillIt costs 15mins. In this part, I use PPT to introduce the words and then teach the new structure. As is known to all, middle students should learn English step by step. Before they learn the new structure, students are asked to master the new vocabulary. It is important
14、 to pay all the attention to learning new words. Teach new words of jobs using “What does he/she do?”I will show the first picture and ask: Who is he? What does he do? Ss can guess according to the picture. He is Bill Gates. He is a computer programmer. Read after me by different way, such as Group
15、A, Group B, boys, girls. The other pictures , I use the same way to teach. And highlight the new expression “ What do you want to be when you grow up?”“I want to be a/an” Purpose of my design: Pictures arousetheSsinterestinEnglishlearningandencouragethemtomemorize thenew words and the new sentence p
16、atterns. Step 3. Do 1a1.Ask students to give Chinese meanings of the words.2. Tell Ss to rank them 1-12. 1 is most interesting, 12 is least interesting. After Ss choose the most interesting jobs, the teacher can introduce the new strcture:How are you going to do that? Im going to practice basketball
17、 every day . Purpose of my design: To master the new words and learn the target language in this period.Step 4.Listening (Do 1b)1. T: Tell Ss to read out this part . Make sure they know the meaning of the words and sentences. 2. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and fill in the blanks. 3. Play
18、 the recording again. Check the answers with the Ss. 4. Play the recording again. Ss listen and match the jobs with activities. 5. Show the answers on the big screen. Purpose of my design: Train Ss listening ability and prepare for later exercises.Step5.Pair work: practice and consolidate the new st
19、ructure in pairsAsk Ss to make a small conversation with partners. They work in pairs. 2 mins later, I will ask some of the students to show their ideas. Purpose of my design: to encourage students to speak out and also allow them to understand others better. I plant the idea in their mind that stud
20、ents should share their views with their friends and classmates.Step 6. Summary and Homework It will cost 5 min. First, I will use a star story of Wang Baoqiang to summarize the class. And tell the Ss hold fast on their dreams and they will be come true one day. The last step is to assign the homework. It is aimed to consolidate what they have learned today and help Ss to establish the structures of language points.Step7. Blackboard workOk, this is my blackboard design.
