People who have such an addiction are compulsive; that is, they have a very powerful psychological need that they feel they mus

6、t satisfy. According to psychologists, many people are compulsive spenders; they feel that they must spend money. This compulsion, like most others, is irrational impossible to explain reasonably. For compulsive spenders who buy on credit, charge accounts are even more exciting than money. In other

7、words, compulsive spenders feel that with credit, they can do anything. Their pleasure in spending enormous amounts is actually greater than the pleasure that they get from the things they buy. There is even a special psychology of bargain hunting. To save money, of course, most people look for sale

8、s, low prices, and discounts. Compulsive bargain hunters are addicted to buying things that are cheap because they feel they are winning when they can buy something for less than other people. It is not only scientists, of course, who understand the psychology of spending habits, but also business p

9、eople. Stores, companies, and advertisers use psychology to increase business: they consider peoples needs for love, power, or influence, their basic values, their beliefs and opinions, and so on in their advertising and sales methods.3. Psychology Applied in Daily Life When people think of psycholo

10、gy, they often think of helping people suffering from emotional illness , marital and family problems, or substance abuse. While psychology certainly deals with these problems, few realize how broadly applicable psychology is to everyday life. Psychology is the study of human behavior and thinking.

11、It helps you to understand yourself better. It also helps you to understand other people. If you understand psychology, you can change your own behavior and help other people to change theirs. You can also predict how other people are going to react to things. You just missed a bus. Normally, youd c

12、urse, jump up and down on the spot while screaming your lungs out. However, this would ruin your hair and makeup, and you need to look good for when you get where you are going. You use Psychology to Not have this mess happen, and you take long and deep breaths that slow your pounding heart rate, an

Case 1: Someone stands on your toes, and instead of killing them, you recognize that it was not done intentionally to cause you hurt and anger, so you accept their apology calmly and you thus avoid a death, an expensive dry cleaning bill, being arrested, a large Lawyer fee.Case 2:
