AtCOP15,morethan100countriesgottogether,developinganewpost-2020globalbiodiversityframework(框架)andsettingnewprotectiongoalsthrough2030.TheKunmingDeclaration(昆明宣言)isthemainachievementofthisconference.Itcallsforcountriestoprotectandsave30percentoflandandseaareasby2030.

In2010,theAichibiodiversitytargets(目标)weremadethroughCOP10toslowbiodiversitylossandprotecthabitats(栖息地)by2020.Buttheworldhasfailedtomeetanyofthosetargets,accordingtoaUNreport.

TomakesurethetargetsofCOP15canbemet,Chinahastakenthelead,investing(投资)1.5billionyuantocreatetheKunmingBiodiversityFund(昆明生态多样性基金).Thefundwillbeusedtosupportdevelopingcountriesinbiodiversityprotection.

Chinaisalsomovingfastertobuildasystemofprotectedareasandnationalparks.Withaprotectedlandareaof230,000squarekilometers,China’sfirstgroupofnationalparksishometonearly30percentofkeyterrestrial(陆地的)wildlifespeciesinthecountry,Xinhuareported.

GiantPandaNationalPark,ontheotherhand,connectspandahabitats(栖息地)inSichuan,ShaanxiandGansu.Therearemorethan1,600wildgiantpandasinsidethepark,accountingformorethan70percentofthepandasinChina.

Chinahopesthenationalparkswillbenefitthepublic.Natureobservation(观察)activitieswillbeheldtohelptravelerslearnaboutanimalsandplants.Localpeoplelivingintheparkscanalsoruneco-friendlybusinesses.InThree-River-SourceNationalPark,morethan17thousandlocalherdsmen(牧民)havefoundjobs,suchasparkrangers(护林员)since2016.Theiryearlyhouseholdincomeshaveincreasedbyanaverageof21,600yuan.

Anotherexhaustingexercise,asWangYapingtoldPeople’sDaily,istheunderwatertrainingwhichlastssevenhourseachtime.Itsimulatesaweightless(失重的)environment.Shehadtoweara200-kilogramsuitanddotasksin10-meter-deepwaterwithouteatingorgoingtotoilet.Aftereachtraining,Wanglostupto2kgofbodyweight.
