omicgrowthshouldnotberegardedasthemaincriterionformeasuringacountry’ssuccess.Thereisagrowingrecognitionthatasuccessfulcountrycanensurethefairdistributionofwealthsocitizens’needscanbesatisfied.Peopleareabletoacquirenecessitiessuchasfood,housing,education,medicalcareandsoforthataffordableprices.Indecidingwhetheracountryislivable,itisalsoimportanttoconsiderairquality,accesstocleanwater,wastedisposal,sewagemanagementandtransportinfrastructure.Inaddition,wemusttakeintoaccounttheissueofwhetherornottheeconomicdevelopmentissustainable,namely,whetherthecountrycanprovideadequateresourcestofeedfuturegenerations.Inbrief,itisprematuretoequatewealthwithsuccess.Livingstandardsandsustainabledevelopmentareamongthosefactorsthatcanbetakenintoconsiderationwhenacountrysuccessisevaluated.Itisarguedthatwearelivinginathrow-awaysociety:peoplethrowawaywhattheyuseindailylife,insteadofrecyclingorreusingthem.Whyhasthishappenedandhowtoaddressthisissue?Thepastdecadehasseenamarkedincreaseinthepublic’sawarenessofenvironmentalissue.Theenvironmentalimpactoftheuseanddisposalofconsumergoodshasbecomeacauseforconcern.Itisimportanttofocusonhowthisproblemhashappenedandhowtosolvethisproblem.Themainreasonbehindtheincreasedconsumptionofproductsliesinthefactthatpeoplehavehigherincome.Theimprovementofproductivity,aswellastechnologicalinnovation,hasreducedthecostofproductionsubstantially,soproducts,includingpackagedfoodsandhouseholdproducts,areincreasinglyaffordable.Moreover,fastpaceoflifeaccountsfortheirdependenceondisposableproducts.Thelifespanofdurableproducts(suchasmobilephonesandcomputers)hasbeenshortened,inlargepartduetothefactthattheseproductsarerenewedrapidly.Furthermore,consumersareindifferenttotheconsequencesoftheirbehavior.Thecontinuouslygrowingdemandforproductsresultsinenormousenergyconsumptionaswellasasubstantialincreaseinwasteandpollution.Astheoverconsumptionofproductsispervasive,itisimportanttotakesomemeasurestomitigatepollution.Onemainstrategyistheuseofbio-degradedmaterials,whichcanreducethedamagecausedbyplasticbags,packagesandmetalstotheenvironment.Inaddition,emphasisshouldbeplacedonpeople’senvironmentalawareness,asitchangesthewaysinwhichpeopleuseanddisposeofproducts.Forexample,peopleshouldbeencouragedtokeepoldproducts,aslongastheseproductsfunctionappropriately.Environmentalgroupsshoulddisseminatetheknowledgeofhowtorecycledisposablegoodsandhouseholdappliances.Inconclusion,people’sattitudetowardconsumptionandtheincreaseindisposableincomearemainreasonsbehindexcessiveconsumptionofdisposableitems.Toaddressthisproblemsuccessfully,thetoppriorityistoraiseawarenessofenvironmentalprotection,whichcanleadtoachangetotheirlifestyles.Volunteerworkorganizedbymiddleschoolsbringsmorebenefitsthanproblems.Towhatextentdoyouagreeordisagree?Volunteerworkhaswidelybeenpromotedinmanyschoolsandevenrecognizedasarequirementforagraduation.Despitethefactthatvolunteerworkhasitsdownside,itisbeneficialforparticipantsandthecommunityasawhole.Itisclearthatstudentscanimprovetheirskillsandenrichtheirsocialexperiencebyparticipatingincommunityservice.Whenprovidingcommunityservice,studentswillencounternumerousproblemsandchallengeswhicharerareatschool,suchashowtointroducecommunityservicetotheelderlyandhowtoassistchildreninschooling.Volunteerworkenablesstudentstoboosttheirconfidenceandimproveproblem-solvingabilities,althoughtheyaresometimesnotawareofthisbenefit.Asecondbenefitisthatstudentscanintegratetheiracademicexperiencewiththeirpracticalexperience.Itcomesasnosurprisethatmanyemployersnowexpressstronginterestinthosegraduateswithvolunteerexperience.Theincreaseinthenumberofyoungvolunteersisalsoofbenefittothecommunity.Someservices,suchasthosethataimtohelpthehomeless,oftenhavefinancialproblems,whichcanbesolvedifyoungvolunteersareinvolved.Itcanalsoraisetheawarenessofsomesocialproblems(suchasenvironmentalissuesandanimalrights)amongpeople,especiallyyoungpeople.Inasocietywherepeoplearewillingtohelpeachother,peoplehaveasenseofbelonging,whichiscrucialtocommunitycohesion.Thevalueofvolunteerworkissometimesdiscountedbyitsdeficiencies.Wecannotruleoutthepossibilitythatcommunityserviceisnotwell-plannedsoitcanleadtotheoveruseofvolunteers’timeandenergy.Anotherproblemisthelackofflexibility,whichmakesvolunteerworktediousandstrenuousratherthanstimulatingandeducational.Volunteersarenotdevotedtotheservice,possiblybecausethevalueoftheirlabourisnotexplicit.Thediscussionofthesefactorsleadstotheconclusionthatweshouldrecognizetheimportanceofvolunteerworkforabilities,careerprospectsandsocialdevelopment.Inordertorallysupportforvolunteerwork,volunteerserviceorganizationsshouldtailortheseservicestomeetvounterrs’needs.Newshasaremarkableinfluenceonopinionsandideas,doyouthinkitisapositiveornegativechange?Wearebombardedwiththeinformationpresentedbythenewsmedia,includingnewspaper,radio,televisionandtheInternet.Thereisagrowingrecognitionthatnewsisimportantinformingandaffectingpublicopinion.Fromapersonalpointofview,theundueinfluenceofthenewsmediaisachallengetosociety.Moreoftenthannot,newsmagnifiestheeffectofsomeeve
