laterbecamebitter.Twosisters,MildredHill,ateacheratakindergarten,

andDr.PattyHill,theprincipalofthesameschool,wroteasongtogether

forthechildren,entitled“GoodMorningtoAll”.WhenMildredcombined

hermusicaltalentswithhersister'sknowledgeintheareaofkindergarten

education,'GoodMorningtoAll“wassuretobeasuccess.Thesister

publishedthesonginacollectionentitled“SongStoriesofthe

Kindergarten^^in1893.Thirty-oneyearslater,afterDr.PattyHillbecame

theheadoftheDepartmentofKindergartenEducationatColumbia

University'sTeachersCollege,agentlemanbythenameRobertColeman

publishedthesong,withoutthesisters5permission.Headdedasecond

part,whichisthefamiliar“HappyBirthdaytoYou”.Mr.Coleman'saddition

Thestoryof“HappyBirthdaytoYou“wasanice,sweetoneatthevery

beginning,butlaterturnedintoabitterone.Thereweretwosisters:
