教材分析:

本模块围绕天气为话题，学习使用描述天气状况的相关词汇和语句。本单元的课文以天气为主线，介绍去米国旅游的最佳时间。课文中选择了米国几个比较有名的旅游胜地，介绍了不同地方的最佳旅游时间，并给出了一些建议，实用性较强。本模块语法现象是may/might表示可能性。学生不但要具备并熟练地掌握may/might表示可能的意识和技巧，并且要会运用这一时态描述未来将可能是什么样的天气。学生阅读课文，回答由易到难的问题，获取与本模块重点和难点的信息，以提高学生的理解能力和语言运用能力。写作部分是给一个外国朋友写一封信，邀请他/她到中国，根据老师提供的信息和背景知识，引导学生思考、探究和拓展。学生写作时，尽量运用本模块所学的表示可能性的单词和句型以及描述天气的表达方式。

学情分析:

学生在七年级初步了解了有关天气的部分词汇及句型。本单元则是在前面的基础上引入到天气这个话题上，这是学生很熟悉也是较感兴趣的话题。在教师预设的任务中，引导学生在交际中动态生成，学生有话可说，乐于合作分享。Unit2阅读材料为去米国游玩的最佳时机，教师引导学生运用课本知识，达到提高综合运用语言能力的目的。

教学重点和难点：

1、阅读策略在文中的学习和运用。

2、东西方文化的差异，中国人描述方位时，习惯“东西南北”，而西方人是则其重要的点先说明。同时，在单词学习时，如“西北”，英语的表达为“northwest”,和中文相反。
