Theclassroomwascoldinthemornings,butthestudentswantedzerocarbonemissionsthroughtheirheating.Sotheywentoutandgotapelletstove,andthenifthatwasn’tenough,theywentoutandbuiltapelletmill(颗粒机)tomaketheirfuelfromwastesawdust.

Poweringonesmallbuildingonahighschoolcampusorcookingdoughnutsinrenewablefatfryersisnice,butwilldolittleontheirowntoslowglobalclimatechange.However,theHubismuchmoreaboutthebigpicture.NelSmit,thevolunteerteacher—headoftheHub,knowstheirbiggestcontributionisexcitingthemindsofthenextgeneration.
