HarvardUniversity,private,coeducationalinstitutionofhighereducation,

theoldestintheUnitedStates,isinCambridge,Massachusetts.

In1636acollegewasfoundedinCambridgebytheGreatandGeneral

CourtoftheMassachusettsBayColony.Itwasopenedforinstruction

twoyearslaterandnamedin1639forEnglishclergymanJohnHarvard,
