ThestudyofEnglishversionofHongLouMengplaysanimportantroleinintroducingChineseexcellenttraditionalculturetotheworld.ThetranslationofHongLouMengdatedbackto19thcentury,HongLouMengwastranslatedinto23languageandthereweremorethan60versionsintotal,including14Japaneseversions,9Koreanversions,9Englishversionsand9Frenchversions.(Li,1995)Fromtheperspectiveofmedicalscience,themedicineinHongLouMengisagreattreasurehouse.Thereare290medicalknowledgeintotaland50000wordsrelatedtothemedicalknowledge,161medicalterms,114clinicalcases,45traditionalChineseprescription,125kindsoftraditionalChinesemedicineand3kindsofwesternmedicine.(Duan,2023)SothetranslationoftraditionalChinesemedicineinHongLouMengisveryimportant.PenghascomparedandanalyzedthedifferentEnglishversionstranslationof25kindsoftraditionalChineseprescriptionandgavehisownopiniononthetranslationoftraditionalChineseprescription.

ThetranslationoftraditionalChinesemedicineisstillinabeginningandexploringstage,translatordonthaveprofessionalknowledgeoftraditionalChinesemedicine,withoutthebackgroundinformationoftraditionalChinesemedicine,theymaymistranslatethetraditionalChinesemedicine.(Xiong,2023)ThetranslationoftraditionalChineseprescriptionisverydifficultbecausetraditionalChineseprescriptionisverycomplex.TherearethreeprinciplesoftranslationoftraditionalChineseprescription:brevity,informedness,back-translation.(Li,1993)ThetranslationoftraditionalChineseprescriptionshouldbaseonthebasictheoryoftraditionalChinesemedicineandfollowthethreeprinciplesandreproducethesourcelanguagemeaningmorefaithfully(Xia,Zhang,Lin,2023)
