3.4MotherboardSettings

Thissectionexplainsindetailhowtochangeyourmotherboard’sfunctionsettingsthroughtheuseofswitchesand/orjumpers.

WARNING!ComputermotherboardsandexpansioncardscontainverydelicateIntegratedCircuit(IC)chips.Toprotectthemagainstdamagefromstaticelectric-ity,youshouldfollowsomeprecautionswheneveryouworkonyourcomputer.

1.Unplugyourcomputerwhenworkingontheinside.

2.Useagroundedwriststrapbeforehandlingcomputercomponents.Ifyoudonothaveone,touchbothofyourhandstoasafelygroundedobjectortoametalobject,suchasthepowersupplycase.

3.HoldcomponentsbytheedgesandtrynottotouchtheICchips,leadsorconnectors,orothercomponents.

4.Placecomponentsonagroundedantistaticpadoronthebagthatcamewiththecomponentwheneverthecomponentsareseparatedfromthesystem.

5.EnsurethattheATXpowersupplyisswitchedoffbeforeyoupluginorremovetheATXpowerconnectoronthemotherboard.

WARNING!Makesurethatyouunplugyourpowersupplywhenaddingorre-movingsystemcomponents.Failuretodosomaycauseseveredamagetoyourmotherboard,peripherals,and/orcomponents.TheonboardLEDwhenlitactsasareminderthatthesystemisinsuspendorsoft-offmodeandnotpoweredOFF.
