2.1 Beforeyouproceed
Takenoteofthefollowingprecautionsbeforeyouinstallmotherboardcomponentsorchangeanymotherboardsettings.
• Unplugthepowercordfromthewallsocketbeforetouchinganycomponent.
• Useagroundedwriststraportouchasafelygroundedobjectorametalobject,suchasthepowersupplycase,beforehandlingcomponentstoavoiddamagingthemduetostaticelectricity.
• HoldcomponentsbytheedgestoavoidtouchingtheICsonthem.
•Wheneveryouuninstallanycomponent,placeitonagroundedantistaticpadorinthebagthatcamewiththecomponent.
• Beforeyouinstallorremoveanycomponent,ensure
thatthepowersupplyisswitchedofforthepowercordisdetachedfromthepowersupply.Failuretodosomaycauseseveredamagetothemotherboard,peripherals,and/orcomponents.

2.2 Motherboardoverview
Beforeyouinstallthemotherboard,studytheconfigurationofyourchassistoensurethatthemotherboardfitsintoit.
Tooptimizethemotherboardfeatures,wehighlyrecommendthatyouinstallitinanSSIEEB3.61compliantchassis.
Makesuretounplugthechassispowercordbeforeinstallingorremovingthemotherboard.Failuretodosocancauseyouphysicalinjuryanddamagemotherboardcomponents!
2.2.1 Placementdirection
Wheninstallingthemotherboard,makesurethatyouplaceitintothechassisinthecorrectorientation.Theedgewithexternalportsgoestotherearpartofthechassisasindicatedintheimagebelow.
2.2.2 Screwholes
Placesix(6)screwsintotheholesindicatedbycirclestosecurethemotherboardtothechassis.
Donotovertightenthescrews!Doingsocandamagethemotherboard.

2.2.3 Supportkitsforthemotherboard
ForadditionalprotectionfrommotherboardbreakageduetotheweightoftheCPUheatsinks,yourmotherboardpackagecomeswithCEKspringsthatyoucanuseasweightsupport.InstalltheCEKspringsbeforeinstallingthemotherboard.
IfyourchassisisSSIEEB3.61compliant,werecommendthatyouusetheCEKsprings;otherwise,usethesupportplateskit.
EachCEKspringhasfourhookstomatchthedesignatedholesaroundtheCPUarea.

1. LocatetheCPUheatsinkholesonthemotherboard.

2. PositiontheCEKspringunderneaththemotherboard,thenmatchtheCEKspringhookstotheCPU1heatsinkholes.

3. Presstheupperspringhooksinward,theninserttotheupperCPUheatsinkholesuntiltheysnapinplace.
4. Pressthelowerspringclipsinward,theninserttothelowerCPUheatsinkholesuntiltheysnapinplace.
5. IfyouinstalledasecondCPU,repeatsteps2to4toinstalltheCEKspringtotheCPU2heatsinkholes.
TheCEKspringsappearasshowwheninstalled.

6. Beforeinstallingthemotherboardintothechassis,locatethestandoffsthatshouldmatchtheeight(8)CEKspringscrewholes.

7. InstallthemotherboardwiththeexternalI/Oportstowardthechassisrearpanel.TheCPUsocketsshouldberightontopoftheirrespectivestandoffs.

MakesurethatthestandoffsperfectlymatchtheCEKspringscrewholes;otherwise,youcannotinstalltheCPUheatsinksproperly.
