4Performanceofinspectionandtesting

4.1General

Eachindividualvesselshallbeinspectedduringconstructionanduponcompletion.Inspectionsshallbemadetoensurethatinallrespectsthedesign,materials,manufacturing,andtestingcomplywiththerequirementsofthisstandard.Documentedevidenceshallbepreparedtoverifyimplementationofthisrequirement.

4.2Inspection

Inspectionshallbecarriedoutbythemanufacturertoverifythatallrequirementsofthisstandardhavebeenmet.Thelevelofnon-destructivetesting(NDT)shallbedependentonthetestinggroupasdescribedin4.3.

4.3Non-destructivetesting(NDT)

Thetypeandamountofnon-destructivetestingofapressurevesselshallbebaseduponthetestinggrouporcombinationoftestinggroupswhenpermittedin.2(seeTable6.6.1-1:testinggroupsforsteelpressurevesselsandTable6.6.2-1:extentofnon-destructivetesting).

5Technicaldocumentation

5.1General

Thevesselmanufacturershalldocumentthoseitemslistedin5.2,whichshallbereviewedinaccordancewith5.3,priortomanufacturecommencing.

Themanufacturershallstatewhichvesselsarecoveredbythesamedesigndocumentation.

5.2Informationtobecontainedinthetechnicaldocumentation

Forthepurposesofthisstandardthefollowingtypesofdocumentsshallbeconsiderednecessaryastechnicaldocumentation.

5.2.1Generaldescriptionofthepressurevessel

a)Nameofvesselmanufacturerandsubcontractors,ifapplicable;

b)Location/sofvesselmanufacturersandsub-contractors,ifapplicable;

c)Documentdescribingdesigndataandspecialconsiderationwhichcovers:

1)maximumandminimumallowablepressures,designpressuresandtestpressuresinbarforeach

compartment(vacuumwithminussign);

2)capacityinlitresforeachcompartment;

3)maximumandminimumdesigntemperatures;

4)natureandlocationofmarkingofthepressurevessel,nameplateorstamp;

5)thefluidgroup.

5.2.2Conceptualdesignandconstructiondrawings

Themanufactureranalysisofhazardsidentifyingthosewhichapplytothepressurevesselonaccountofpressureshallbedocumentedandbeofsufficientdetail.

Detailsoftheconceptualdesignincludingthedesignmethodsadopted,performancecriteriaandconstructiondrawingsshallbeprovided.GuidanceaboutthedetaileddimensionalinformationthatshallbeprovidedisgiveninAnnexB.Processdiagrams,sub-assembliesorotherdatarelevanttoconceptualdesignshallalsobemaintained.

5.2.3Descriptionsandexplanationsnecessaryforanunderstandingofthedrawingsanddiagramsandtheoperationofthepressurevessel

a)operatinginstructions;

b)specialcheckstobecarriedoute.g.testsenvisagedonclosures,bellows,clampingbolts,etc.

c)operationalpositionifthisissignificantwithregardtothesafetyevaluation.

5.2.4Resultsofdesigncalculationsandexaminationscarriedout

Designcalculationsshallbeprovidedbythevesselmanufacturertotheextentnecessarytodemonstratecompliancewiththisstandard.

Supportingdetaileddrawingsshallbepreparedwithalldimensionnotationsmarked.Thedrawingsshallclearlyidentifyinthecaseofcyclicloadedvessels,thecriticalareas.Themaximumpermissiblepeakingforcyclicallyloadedvesselsshallalsobegiveninthedrawing.Atleastonthepressurevesselgeneralarrangementdrawing,thetestinggroupforeachweldedjointshallbeclearlyidentified.

Ifcalculationsaremadewiththeaidofacomputerinordertocomplywiththisstandard,thenatleastthefollowingdatashallbepresented:

a)explanationofnotations;

b)inputvalues;

c)referencenumberofthestandardincludingeditionandreferencenumberoftheequation;

d)resultsofintermediateequations;

e)calculatedminimumthicknesswithoutadditionsorthecalculatedstressanditscomparisontotheallowablestress;

f)wastage(corrosion)allowance;

g)thicknesstolerance(negativethicknesstolerance);

h)thechosenthickness.

Intheeventthatstressanalysisiscarriedoutwiththefiniteelementmethodorotherdesignmethodstheyshallbedocumentedasfollows:

a)inputdata;

b)plottergraphs(originalandcopy)form;

1)theelementsubdivision;

2)thestresses,e.g.aslineorarrowfiguresorequalstresscurves;stresscurvesofsurfaces;

3)thedisplacements;

Inspecificcasesthefollowinginformationshallbenecessary:

a)typeofpostweldheattreatmentand,wherenecessary,typeandextentofassociatedmaterialtests;b)constructionsequencescheduleifthestructuraltestingistobecarriedoutinseveralpartialsteps;

c)fluid(s)beingcontainedandits(their)specificgravity,ifthisisrequiredforthedesignofthevessel;

d)pressuretestingmedium,iftheinitialortheperiodicpressuretestsaretobecarriedoutwithamediumotherthanwater,thetestminimummetaltemperatureforprooftests(bothhydrostaticandpneumatic);

e)positionofthevesselinthepressuretests(e.g.horizontalorvertical),ifthisissignificantwithregardtothesafetyevaluation;

f)maximumandminimumliquidlevels,ifthesearerequiredwithregardtothesafetyevaluation;

g)staticsupplementaryforces,e.g.bearingforces,windandsnowloads.Anextracalculationshallbepresented

ifthesupplementaryforcesessentiallyaffectthedesignofthepressurevessel;

h)cyclicanddynamicloading,includingseismicloading,whereapplicable;

i)additionalrequirementsbasedonotherregulations;

j)purchaser’srequirementsbasedonthevesseloperatingconditionsinadditiontotherequirementsofthisstandard;

k)possiblecorrosionattack,especiallyincrevices,whichshallbetakenintoaccount;

l)jointcoefficient.

5.2.5Testreports

Theseshallconsist,asaminimum,ofthefollowing:

a)weldingprocedurequalificationrecords,certificateofqualificationofweldingpersonnel;

b)materialcertificates;

c)anexampleoftheproposedlistofthemanufacturingrecords;

d)valuesofmeasuredpeakingforvesselssubjecttocyclicloads.

5.2.6Technical/manufacturingschedule

Thisshallconsistofthefollowinginformation:

a)theweldingprocessestobeusedforthepressurecontainingpartsandweldingofanytemporaryorotherattachmentstopressurecontainingparts.Thefollowingdataarerequiredforthestructuraltesting:

1)weldlocation,shapeandpreparationandwherenecessarybuildupofthelayersandtreatmentofwelds;2)weldingprocess(inthecaseofmultipleprocesses,identificationoftheprocessagainsttheweldjoint);

3)weldingconsumables(classificationaccordingtotherelevantEuropeanStandardsortradenames);

4)typeandextentofproductiontest,numberoftestplates,non-destructivetests;

Ifsomeofthedatalistedbeforearenotavailableforthedesignreview,thentheseshallbecompletedbeforefinishingthemanufacture.
