ThedryingupofthePo,whichruns652kilometresfromthenorthwesterncityofTurintoVenice,is

jeopardisingthedrinkingwatersupplyinItaly,sdenselypopulatedandhighlyindustrialiseddistrictsand

threateningirrigationinthemostintensivelyfarmedpartofthecountry,knownastheItalianfoodvalley.

NorthernItalyhasn'tseenrainfallformorethan110daysandthisyear'ssnowfallisdownby70%.Aquifers
