surprise还可作动词,意为“使惊讶”,

surprisesb.使某人惊讶surprise的词形变化:surprised惊讶的besurprisedatsth.

他们俩都对这个消息感到惊讶。

他们俩都对中国文化表现出极大的兴趣。注意:含有both的句子变否定句时一般不借助not,常把both

变为neither。辨析:

both,all,neither和noneboth指“两者都”,

作主语时谓语动词用复数。其反义词为neither。all指“三者或三者以上都”,

作主语时谓语动词用复数。其反义词为none。neither指“两者都不”,

后接of短语作主语时谓语动词用单数或复数均可。none指“三者或三者以上都不”,

后接of短语作主语时谓语动词用单数或复数均可。e.g.Allofusareinterestedinhistory.

我们都对历史感兴趣。Neitherofthetwinshas/havebeentoBeijing.

这对双胞胎都没有去过北京。Noneofthepeoplehas/haveknownthenews.

没有人知道这个消息。LaterIfoundoutFrenchpeoplearesupposedtokisswhentheyseeeachother.(教材P74)findout查明,弄清(情况)

findout后可接由that,what,when或how等引导的宾语从句,也可接名词。e.g.Pleasefindoutwhenthemeetingstarts.

请查清楚会议什么时候开始。辨析:

findout,lookfor与findfindout意为“弄清;查明”,

指通过观察、探索或调查而得。lookfor意为“寻找”,

强调找的动作和过程。find意为“找到;

发现”,

强调找的结果。e.g.Finally,Ifoundoutthetruth.
