too...to...太……而不能……

该结构表示否定含义。其中too为副词,其后跟形容词或副词原级;to为不定式符号,后接动词原形。e.g.Thissoupistoosaltytoeat.这汤太咸了,不能喝。

【特别提醒】too...to...结构中,当too前有否定词(如never)时,表达肯定意义。e.g.It’snevertoolatetolearn.活到老,学到老。

usedto过去常常(做)

表示过去存在或经常发生,但现在已经不存在的动作或状态,后接动词原形,不与确定的过去时间状语连用。

否定形式是didn’tuseto或usednotto(usedn’tto)。e.g.Weusedtotalkabouteverything.我们曾经无话不谈。e.g.Hedidn’tusetowearglasses.=Heusedn’ttowearglasses.他过去不戴眼镜。

【拓展】beusedtodosth.表示“被用来做某事”,相当于beusedfordoingsth.。be/getusedtodoingsth.表示“习惯于做某事”。e.g.Theknifeisusedtocutfruit.=Theknifeisusedforcuttingfruit.这把刀是用来切水果的。e.g.Peopleshouldgetusedtotravellingbypublictransportation.人们应该习惯于乘坐公共交通工具出行。
