Thelast12monthshavebeenexciting,tosaytheleast.

Multiplenewplayershavejoinedthegame,withoneofthebiggeststoriesoftheyearbeingOracle’smeteoricrisetobecometheworld’sfourthlargesthyperscaler.

Andwhilemuchofthemainstreamtalkhasbeenaboutthemulti-gigawattambitionsforAIdatacentres,existingdata

centremarketscontinuetoexpand.Somecountriesare

onlystartingtodeveloptheirclouddatacentres,whileotherscontinueonthatjourney.Edgedatacentresaregrowingwiththespreadof5G.And,onceAImodelshavebeentrainedinlarge,out-of-towndatacentres,wewillneedtofindspace

forinferencedatacentres–closetocitiesandindustrialhubs–torunthosemodels.

Inthisreport,wefocusonareaswhereSoben,partofAccenture,is

mostactiveinthedatacentremarket-although,therearenewpinsinourmapalmosteveryweek.Therearefewregionsintheworldwheredatacentreconstructionwillnotrampupoverthenext10years.

developmentofdatacentres.InitsBlueprintforSuccess

report,AccenturecitesaEuropeanutilitiescompanywhich

neededfivetimesmoreelectricitytransmissionspecialiststhanitwascurrentlyemployingtoprovidetechnicalassuranceto

meetafourfoldincreaseinconnectionrequests4.

Therearesignsthatthetideisturning.IntheUS,anOctober2024surveyof2,091adultsbyTheHarrisPollfoundthat78%hadnoticedarecentgrowinginterestfromyoungpeopleinpursuingtradecareers.Andwhile23%ofpeoplewhodon’tcurrentlyworkinthetradessaidtheyplannedtomoveinto

Futureproofing
