Note:Notallrobotshavetohaveallsixcharacteristics.Forexample,some
robotsdon'tneedtomanipulatethings,sotheyhavenomanipulatingcharacteristics.
Somerobotshavemorethanonemanifestationofacharacteristic.Forexample,a
robotmaybeabletosenseitsenvironmentusingbothavisionsystemandsonar.
Studentsareaskedtodiscussfirst.Ifthereisnotenoughtime,theyshouldfinfish
itafterclass.

questionsandreadpatientrecords,viewX-raysandtestresultsfromtheconsole.
Thepatientseesthedoctor'simageontherobots“face”.
Althoughtherobotdoesnotphysicallyexaminethepatient,itallowsface-to-
facecontactbetweenthedoctorandpatient,providingimmediateaccessto
specialists.
Ourrobotscertainlywouldneverreplacealldoctorsonwardrounds,buttheyare
acommunicationtoolwhichallowsdoctorstohavedirectcontactwiththeirpatients
iftheyareunabletogettothem.Andthismaybeasignificantstepforpatientcare.
