动词不定式作主语时,一般位于句首。单个不定式短语作主语时,谓语动词用第三人称单数形式。如果动词不定式太长,则可用it作形式主语,构成“It...todosth”句型,此时真正的主语后置,更符合英语表达习惯。

状语从句:在主从复合句中作状语的从句,修饰主句中的动词、形容词或整个句子。
状语从句分很多种,如时间状语从句、原因状语从句、条件状语从句、结果状语从句、目的状语从句等。本单元主要涉及的是由although、sothat及until引导的状语从句。although引导让步状语从句
意为“尽管;虽然”,相当于though、evenif和eventhough。其引导的状语从句可以放在主句前或主句后,放在句首时,主句前需加逗号。

【注意】although不能与but连用,但可与yet和still连用,表“虽然……但是……”。sothat引导目的状语从句
意为“以便;为了”,多引导目的状语从句,其引导的状语从句一般放在主句后,且不用逗号隔开,目的是说明主句动作的目的。
