low.Onthesecondarymarket,qualitywhisky

isnowmoreaffordablethanithas

been

inaverylongtime.Auctionpriceshavefallenmorethan40%fromtheir2022peak.Andalthoughpriceshave

notfullystabilised,thedownturnmomentumslowedsignificantlyin2025.Ouranalysis

ofothercollectableassetsshowsthatWineandWatchesmayhave

justreached

theirlowpoint

andaturnaround

isperhapsunderway.Giventheclosecorre-

lationbetweenWhisky,WineandWatches

throughoutthehighsandlowsofthepast

fiveyears,thesecircumstancesmightsuggestasimilartrendforWhisky.Butmarkettimingrequiresacrystal

ball.

lessthaninearly2024.Inotherwords,forthosewhoareinthemarketforgoodwhisky,itmightbetheperfecttimetobuy.AfewhundredEuros

buysalot

morewhisky

(both

intermsof

quantityandquality)than

justafewyears

ago,andthatiswhileinflationsaw

prices

climbsignificantlyelsewhere.Ifyouarein

themarketforJapanesewhisky,youare

currentlyseeingadiscountofalmost70%

comparedto2022.Butthereasonforthesediscountedrates

swing

Q4.After

the

extreme

losses

of

Q3,

Indexsignalledequallyextremegainsof8.1%.Allofthesealternativeassetclassescloselytrackedoneanotherthrough

2025.Thatbriefphaseendedwiththemacroeconomicturmoilthatunfolded

inApril.TheScotchWhisky

Indexlost5.9%withinone

roundofauctions,

its

biggestone-monthsetbacksinceNovember2023.Butduringthesummer

months,whentradingvolumewasatitsannuallow,signsofstabilization

emergedagain.ScotchWhiskygained3.8%fromMaytoAugust,andmany

hopedthatmomentumwouldcontinueintothepeaktradingseason.However,asthetradingvolumestartedtoclimb,pricesfellagain.TheScotch

Whiskyindexlost6.3%fromSeptembertoDecember,and
