They are mostly content words such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. When words are stressed,
25、they are higher, louder and spoken more clearly, while other less important, unstressed words are glided over quickly. Non-stressed words are considered function words such as determiners (the, a, some, a few), auxiliary verbs (do not, am, can, were), prepositions (before, next to, opposite), conjun
26、ctions (but, while, as), pronouns (they, she, us).
