DesignofFaultDiagnosisMonitorSystemfortheLocomotiveBearingsBasedonDSPTechnologyAbstractTherollingbearingisoneofthekeypartsofthelocomotiverunningcomponents,becauseitconditionisdirectlyrelatedtotheperformanceandsafetyoflocomotive.Inthispaper,themonitorsystemforthelocomotivebearingsbasedonDSPTMS320LF2407Aisdesigned.Thissystemdiagnosestherollingbearingfaultusingvibrationanalysismethod.ItisbasedoncomprehensiveresonancedemodulationandfastFouriertransformtechnique,anditadoptsrelatedmethodstohandletheresultoftheFFT.Iteffectivelyimprovestheresponsecharacteristics,sensitivity,differentiateandmeasurementaccuracyofthebearingfailuremonitorsystem,anditcanfulfillthemonitorandpredictionofthetransientfaultinthecourseofthelocomotiverunning.KeywordsresonancedemodulationtechnologydigitalsignalprocessorrelatedmethodsI.IntroductionThehighersafetyisrequiredtothetrainsbecauseitsspeedisraisedconstantly.Bearingfaultisoneofthemajorfactorscausingeventfultrafficaccidentsandaffectingrailsafety.Currentlytherailwaysystemusuallyusesthebearingtemperaturedetectortomonitorthelocomotivebearingcondition.Theoreticalanalysisandalotofpracticeshowthatthebearingtemperaturedetectorcanpreventaccidentsfromoccurringtosomeextent,butmostofthebearingfaultisnotsensitivetotemperature.Whenthetemperatureofthebearingisbeyondtherangeandthesystemgivesanalarm,theworsedamageofthebearinghasoccurred,andeventheincidenthadhappened.Therefore,tofindthefaultmoreearlyandaccurately,themoreadvancedmonitoringmeansmustbeadopted.Mostofthebearingfaultisverysensitivetovibrationsignal.Thefaultcancausevibrationofthebearingincreased.Comparedwithmonitoringthetemperatureofbearing,theanalysisandprocessingresultstothevibrationsignalhasmoreadvantagethanthetemperaturemeans.II.SystemcomposingandworkprocessBasedontheneed,themonitorofthebearingfaultmonitoringsystemtothelocomotivebearingsetstwodetectionsitinerationdetectionsandfixeddetections.Theitinerationdetectionisusedinthenormalconditions,andthefixeddetectionisusedforthecontinuousmonitoringofthefaultbearing.Thesystemadoptsspecialcompositesensortocollectthevibrationofthebearingandthetemperaturesignalatthesametime.Afterthedataprocessing,thecorrespondingfaultlevelsandriseintemperaturearegot.Thedataacquisitionunitisdesignedinthissystem.Alarminformationwillbetransmittedtoallcarriagesthroughinterfacessothatthestaffcanhandledintime,andthesametime,thefaultdataandtherelatedinformationofthetrainsuchasthecurrentlocationandspeedwillbetransmittedtothedispatchcenterthroughGPS,whichisconvenienttoadoptcorrespondingmeasures.ThesystemblockdiagramisinFig.1.III.ThekeytechnologyofthedesignforthemonitoringsystemA.ThespectrumanalysismeansfordiagnosingbearingfaultUndernormalcircumstances,allpartsoftherollingbearinginnercircle,outercircle,roller,holdingframewillretainthestablerelativemovementstate.Ifthesurfaceofsomeelementexceptforholdingframehascrack,andthiscrackisinthesurfaceoftherollingadjacentcomponent,theinstantaneousvibrationimpulsemustbeproduced.AssumedthatthenumberoftherollerinthebearingisZthediameteroftherollerisdtheaveragediameterofthebearinginnercircleandthebearingoutercirclethediameteroftherollerrevolutionpathisDthefrequencyofthebearingrotationisf0.Assumedthattheinnercircleisfixedandtheoutercircleiscircumvolved,thevibrationfrequencybroughtbythesurfacedefectsDispatchCenterGSMsystemIndustrycomputerInstrumentfordataInstrumentforfaultdiagnosisInstrumentforfaultdiagnosisInstrumentforfaultdiagnosisFig.1Systemblockdiagramofdifferentbearingcomponentscanbederived.Thesefrequenciescanbecalledthefaultcharacteristicsfrequencyoftheinnercircle,outercircleandtheroller.circleinner2101fDdZfcircleouter2101fDdZfroller1021fDddDfB.ResonancedemodulationtechnologyWecancollectvibrationsignalusingtheresonanceofthebearingcomponents,anddetecttheenvelopeofthefaultsignalusingenvelopdetector,whichcanfulfilltheanalysistothefaultcharacter.Thisiscalledresonancedemodulationtechnology.Thecomponentsurfacessuchastheinnercircle,theoutercircleandtherolleroftherollingbearingareeasilydamagedinlocalplaceinthecourseofoperationsuchaspittingandpeelingoff,cracking,scratchingetc..Ifthesurfaceofsomebearingcomponentshavelocaldamageandtherollingobjectpressesthefaultdotinthecourseofcarriedoperation,itmustbringimpact.Buttheimpactlastsashorttime,andthefrequencyrangeoftheenergydivergenceiswide,sotheenergywithinthescopeofvibrationfrequencyissmall.Duetothewidebandwidthoftheimpulse,itiscertainlythatitincludeshighfrequencyintrinsicvibrationinspiringbyintrinsicfrequencyoftheinnercircle,outercircle,roller,holdingframeonrollingbearings.Theresonancedemodulatesignalisseparatedbybandpassfilterofcenterfrequencyequaltoitsintrinsicfrequency.Thentheenvelopedemodulationiscarriedthroughtothereattenuationoscillatorywaveusingsoftwareorcircuit,thefrequencycomponentofthehighfrequencyattenuationvibrationiswipedoff.Weonlyobtainlowfrequencyenvelopesignalwiththeinformationofthefaultcharacter.ThespectrumanalysisoftheenvelopesignaliscarriedthroughCompoundsensorTemperaturesignalFaultvibrationsignalDSPdigitsignalprocessorEnvelopdetectionEnvelopsignalFrequencybandpassfilterTemperaturesignalprocessingFig.2Signalpretreatmentbydigitalsignalprocessor,wecanobtainveryhighfrequencyresolutionratioandcaneasilyfindthefrequencyofthecorrespondingfaultimpact,therebywecanfulfilltodiagnosetothebearingfault.Withresonancedemodulationtechnology,theelectricresonatorwhichresonantfrequencyismuchhigherthannormalvibrationfrequencyandlimitedhighharmonicfrequencyisdesigned.Therefore,itcaneffectivelyrestrainthelowfrequencysignalincludingnormalvibrationsignal.Theresonanceresponsemagnifiesthesignalamplitudeoftheimpulsesignalandthetimeofitsoscillationislonger,thusthefaultsignalisbroadenedinthetimedomainsignal.Aftertheenvelopedetectionandlowpassfilter,thelowfrequencyresonancedemodulationsignalwithhighsignaltonoiseratioisexported.Inthesignalprocessingsystemshowninfigure2,thebearingcomponentbringsresonanceundertheimpact,formthecontinuousattenuationoscillation.Toresearcheachattenuationoscillation,wecanseethatitsfrequencyisthenaturalfrequencyofbearingcomponents,theamplitudeofattenuationoscillationisrelatetointensityoffaultimpact.Theamplitudeofenvelopesignaloftheattenuationoscillationreflectsthesizeofthefault,andtherepeatfrequencyoftheenvelopedependsonthefaultlocation.Systemhastheperformanceofantijammingofthelowfrequencyvibration,highsignaltonoiseratio.C.EnvelopedetectionAbearingwithfaultinthecourseofrollingwillbringregularvibration.Differentfaulthasdifferentcharacterfrequency.Thecharacterfrequencysystemdetectingisthefrequencyofthesignalenvelopethefrequencywhichisaccruedbythecollisionofthefaultonbearingelement,notthevibrationfrequencyofthebearing.Whenweanalyzethefaultsignal,theresonantfrequencycarrierwavemustberemovedbyenvelopedemodulation.Becausetheenvelopesignalhasfullyincludedallinformationofthefault,removingcarrierwavewillnothaveanyadverseimpactontheanalysis.KeyboardLiquidcrystaldisplayBearingtemperatureandairtemperaturedifferentialamplifierCompositesensorVibrationsignalamplifierfrequencybandfilterEnvelopdetectionLowfrequencypassfilterDigitalsignalprocessorDSPTMS320LF2407ASerialcommunicationAlarmFig.3thehardwareblockdiagramofthebearingfaultmonitoring
