growing number of english teachers find a lot of problems, which still exist in english teaching, especially in fostering and marinating the students interest under the new curriculum syllabus. it is very important for teacher to foster and maintain students great interest in learning english. therefore, as an english teacher, we should seize the good opportunities, exaggerate the atmosphere of the class, and initiate students interest and thirst for knowledge. still, we should study the teaching materials thoroughly, prepare for the lesson seriously, and develop students initiative and establish new relationship between students and teachers.in this thesis, the author explores the ways to foster the students interest and the measures to maintain the students interest in learning english, such as suiting the instruction to the students level and developing extracurricular activities.key words: interest, development, maintenance摘 要: 众所周知,小学教育在个人教育生涯中起着很重要的作用。如今,越来越多的英语老师发现在英语教学中存在许多问题,特别是在英语教学中如何培养与保持小学生的兴趣。兴趣是最好的老师,在新课程标准下的小学英语教学中,教师要培养和保持学生较浓的学习兴趣。基于上述观点,对于英语老师,我们应该把握良机,渲染英语课堂气氛,引发学生的兴趣和求知欲;充分研究教材,认真备课,发挥学生主体作用和建立新型师生关系。在这篇论文中,作者探讨了一些培养学生兴趣的方法,提出了一些培养与保持小学生学习英语兴趣的有效措施。 english intentionally and encourages students to be in a good learning state, which encourages them to be will to, be good at and like to organize students teaching methods. so that the interest of study will be changed into the motivation of participating practice, and this kind of interest will be kept during such a long period of teaching process, in order to provide ever lasting motivation for language practical activities .in the process of teaching practice and reading a large amount of works on teaching, the following are my attitudes towards fostering the elementary students interest in leaning english. 1. the ways to faster students interest1.1 stimulating students interest the first effective way is to make use of the good opportunities and exaggerate the atmosphere of the class to stimulate students interest and desire for knowledge. elementary students who are boyish like talking and playing. they dare to think and say without any consideration and they have the strong desire for knowledge in order to maintain classroom discipline blindly .in class, teachers should try their best to use their humorous and wills language full of incentives and suspense, or use rich tone with a cedence as much as possible .moreover, it can create an open and relaxed-teaching setting for students to organize classroom teaching by coupling with abundant facial expression and gestures. under harmonious and relaxed atmosphere in the classroom, students bring their happy mood into study. naturally, they are bold to speak english, think actively and gradually develop their interest in learning english and displaying capabilities. many contents in new teaching materials concern about the lives that the students are quite familiar with. so, we should change the classroom into the place for playing properly. so that they can display their character freely .in a word, we should stimulate their interest in learning english and the internal meditation of learning will be gradually increased. a good beginning is half the success. thus, in classroom teaching, the teachers must pay particular attention to taking advantage of the period before class (10 mins before class) to create a good classroom atmosphere (warming up). for example, singing some english songs and carrying out some interesting reviewing-knowledge games such as“ let me guess”or “follow me.” activating the former class atmosphere and enhancing interest in teaching class to trigger the students intellectual curiosity .1.2 adding interest the second effective way is to study the teaching materials thoroughly and prepare for the lesson seriously to add interest in every segment of teaching. teachers process of dealing with the materials and contents is usually from easy to difficult and from sacrificial to deep. what should be paid attention to is that students thinking should be a stable and active state and their interest in learning to a certain extent. each time when adding interest in teaching segment, the varied means of teaching are helpful to maintain students interest. before presenting the language materials, teacher must try to provide students innovative credible scenes, thus it can attract the attention of the students, then it can transit from the scenes into the scene of the pictures which the textbooks display. at the same time, making rational use of objects, photographs, wall charts, drawings, live audio and multimedia materials can make the present several scene much more visual and full of wit. for example, when you are teaching textbooks, you can use the english materials about speaking, listening, reading and writing, which are downloaded from the internet or home-made software for teaching, means of sound, light, the perfect combination of power, using vivid image, the true picture, a beautiful and moving language and music, to enrich students imagination, stimulate students interest and intellectual curiosity, and enhance students memory effect, thus in order to realize the objectives and achieve the teaching targets. for example, when teaching “do you like food?” this content, you can let the students to use the daily common food to practice, in order to stimulate students interest by using the methods of material objects displaying and auxiliary courseware teaching. meeting with the first signs of the sun of the 21-century, we entered into the digital information age. multimedia auxiliary teaching strides formally forward classroom teaching especially, it injected fresh blood into english classroom teaching instead of the beginning forms of quality group, the model class “performance”. the creation of a harmonious and effective teaching atmosphere and the development of students initiative can enhance the interest in learning during students participation actively and combination use of the month and the brain. the ultimate goals of students learning english- to train students communication competence, is reflected in modern english classroom, the cultural background information gain a deeper penetration. the task-based teaching methods courses advocated in new curriculum standards can enhance the elementary students learning english initiative. the teacher should fully study the teaching materials, prepare for the class to adding interest in english course.1.3 developing students interestthe third effective way is to focus on “people-oriented.” and develop the use of students as principal part. the past, teachers dominantion was often stressed, but students were simply viewed as education targets, ignoring students dominant status. whats worse, students brains were regarded to be the containers that can filled with knowledge and information, ignoring the characteristics of teaching and students initiative. the teachers should be treat the elementary students as a primary growth potential life transition, inside which the main mechanisms are contained. and also the teacher ought to recognizing that the aims of education lie in developing students potential and driving the development of its main mechanism to get it to grow, be mature. the conception of “people-oriented” is increasingly popular in education cirde. in the process of education, putting the students centered, and giving full play to the students has become a mainstay of the majority of teachers teaching methods. researching mother language acquisition and foreign language have proved that the main point of education is no longer to focus on “what we should teach?” instead, it should be” how to create such conditions in the classroom?” what the new curriculum standard emphasized is what the students can do. therefore, we should fully embody the students initiative an creativity in the process of teaching to enhance the students ability to use english. just as brunner said: “teaching is a process that is continuing activities of raising and solving problems.” therefore, we should think about more space for students. this requires teachers to be good at lead students to think, discuss and answer questions, rather than limiting students thought and passively following the teachers. for example, when teaching the content, “ask the way,” author avoided the traditional explanation style where the students were in a passive position, instead, the author presented multimedia, a question was followed.” if it were you, how can you ask the way and direct the way?” students were divided into several groups, and students in the same sub-group discuss together and then each group reported their answers to the while class. after collecting the ways that provided by each group, compare it with those of students in the textbook. after absorbing the skill, students classroom” some “ask the bookshop” and some” ask the w.c,” and the atmosphere are particularly active. thus, it get to the full mobilization of student main, character and creativity, and also it help them get out of the passive condition. they become the master in study. in the classroom, we may wish for a “put on”. letting the students be in a master status enables students to think in english and export english actively. the effect of interest is greater than the traditional indoctrination and closed teaching ways.2. the establishment of relationship between students and teachersbuild newly relationship between the students and teacher and emphasize the emotional exchange between them to develop students interest. the basic concept of humanity is a precondition of the relationship between the students and teachers. if educators believe that the human nature is lazy, complacent and needed strict instruction to inspire the conscience. then the authority of the teacher-student relationship should be the most effective. traditional division road dignity is the embodiment of the authority of the teacher-student relationship. however, modern education consider that human nature is positive and uplifting, with the potential for growth and progress. the aim of education is develop humans potential and promote a healthy development of human beings. but it will undoubtedly stifle childrens creativity and talent in using authority of the relationship between the students and the teachers. therefore, we must establish a new teacher-student relationship. 2.1building co-operative relationship co-operation doesnt require educators self-centered. also, it is not require to use coercive means - censure, humiliation, or to force students follow the teachers by complaining against the parents, compulsory education are easy to harm students self-confidence, self-esteem and to raise resentment to the teacher or even fear for the teachers. what is worse, it is very easy to kill the students interest in learning. co-operation means complete equality in personality between the teacher and the student. once the idea was: if you cant learn, i teach you how to learn; if you are not will to learn, i attract you to learn.” “attractive make the students will to learn, will to join the joint teaching activities.2.2building compatible relationship harmony refers to the emotional relationship between the students the teachers and love is one of the core elements. love requires teachers to the considerable enthusiasm to the student for all aspects of their concern about children with learning difficulties. love changes the relationship between i and you existing in teaching process into the relationship of “we.” love achieves the interdependence communication between the students and the teachers. so they can share the joy of success and share the trouble of setbacks. harmonious teacher and student relationship is strong motivation for promoting students to learning. 2.3 building interaction relationship from the perspective of sociology, teaching is a process of interaction between teachers and students in the course. the natural and quality of the interaction between the students and the teachers play a decisive impact on the effectiveness of teaching activities. because the teacher always dispose of their teaching to influence on students by certain conception (such as education, students outlook, quality education, etc.) in teaching activities. however, students will understand and accept teacher, and response effectively based on their own values and needs. students response has further strengthened the original or amended teachers education concepts and practices. therefore, interaction and teaching, activities constitute a positive feedback. “though we teaching enthusiasm and methods in teachers teaching process, initiative in learning, improving the goals teacher are much more encouraged and spire, better to best teaching.” this is the positive effect of teacher student interaction.2.4 building harmonious relationshipzhuxiaoman once said: get out of feeling level, we can not cast in peoples minds.” education is a kind business full of emotion and love. teachers should exchanges the feeling with the students as much as possible, make friends with their students or even build the relationship, between mother and daughter, between father and son, or sister and brothers. let students think teachers are the most trustworthy and they are willing to talk anything with teacher to build the best state of the relationship. teaching is not only the relationship between teaching and learning, but also, at the same time, the process of exchanging of the ideas and feelings. teacher-student relationship has a direct impact on and hinders to the emotional and will. it can important students awareness activities. generally speaking, students affection to a teacher can activate the classroom atmosphere. students will learn welled up. therefore, teachers should pay attention to the in putting feelings to their sincere love arouse sentiments among students. teachers transmit their sentiment of kindness, encouragement, and respect to the students thought their own behavior, facial expressions, so that students are not afraid making, and dare to speak english. stressing students emotional impact on students and trying to find ways to allow students to maintain good mood and trying to protect the self-confidence of students, which lays a significant role in developing and maintaining students interest. english study beginners hardworking, but with the passage of time the increased capacity of knowledge, and the increased difficulties, there is great differences to maintain the level of interest. there exists a difference. some students may even be totally lose interest. in view of this natural phenomenon, we can not have days to rain, rain to married attitude, but we should pay more attention to encouraging giving more practical help from many aspects. 3. measuresto maintain students interest in oral english 3.1 suiting the instruction to the students level according to the actual experience of students, the differences of inspires the target. students who are in low levels of knowledge do quiz practice, conversation exercises. the questions for them are more to protect their activeness and enthusiasm. the simple questions are left foe them. to attract their attention and gradually faster their thinking competence . and also, the teacher should prepare for their ability to answer and solve more difficult question. in psychology, the students practice reading and reasoning oriented exercises. according to the principle of gradual, some students surely have difficulties; it is difficult to renew the knowledge, due to the low progress of the investigation. the will catch up with other students step by step under the earnest help of their teacher. for the “enough” phenomenon of some students, we can not ignore it, or they will become arrogant blindly. and whats worse, they will lose the positive thinking and the
