3 page 1 eia bulletim cals configuration management sow & cdrl guidance part i model sow the purpose of the statement of work is to define the configuration management requirements necessary to maintain and control cals databases and provide transmission, access and receipt of digital data between contractors, subcontractors, vendors and the government. digital data includes not only traditional configuration management documents such as specifications, drawings, and ecps but includes all technical data listed in the cdrt,. this model sow document will provide the government suggested sow wording that should be included in rfps and guidance in applying these sow paragraphs. specific wording for inclusion in rfps and new development contracts is indicated in bold type. existing or follow on contracts should be evaluated to determine if transition to a cals environment is cost effective. caution is advised in blanket application of these sow tasks. sow tasks should be evaluated based on the evolution of the government and industries ability to implement cals concepts. general rjwuirements 1 . configuration management. the contractor shall implement and maintain configuration management (a) of tho contractori8 cals environment. this shall include both hardware and softwaro configurations. guidance: the cals environment should be discussed in the configuration management plan. the government should define the extent to which a cals is applicable, such as: the contractors configuration management of within the sow tasking a. is database access required? b. is electronic transmission required? c. are cals unique dids required? the following sow tasks should be applied based on the maturity of the governments cals system. mil-c-citis should be reviewed for cm tasking requirements when a fully ccmpliant citis system is required. copyright government electronics & information technology association provided by ihs under license with geia licensee=ihs employees/1111111001, user=wing, bernie not for resale, 03/31/2007 00:13:21 mdtno reproduction or networking permitted without license from ihs -,-,- -
