Dos and Donts of Job Interviews 2 Types of Interviews The traditional job interview The behavioral job interview The traditional job interview uses broad-based questions such as: “Why do you want to work for this company?“ “Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?“ It is based on the ability of the job-seeker to communicate Not on the truthfulness or content of their answers. Employers are looking for the answer to three questions: Does the job-seeker have the skills and abilities to perform the job Does the job-seeker possess the enthusiasm and work ethic that the employer expects Will the job-seeker be a team player and fit into the organization. The Questions Look at the following questions in your group. Decide which questions match type of interview What specific goals other than those related to your career, have you established for yourself for the next ten years? Tell me about a time when you had to go above and beyond the call of duty in order to get a job done. Describe a situation in which you were able to use persuasion to successfully convince someone to see things your way. What are the most important rewards you expect in your career? How would you evaluate your ability to deal with conflict? Give me an example of a time when you had to make a split second decision. What motivates you to go the extra mile on a project or job? How do you determine or evaluate success? Give me a specific example of a time when you had to conform to a policy with which you did not agree. Give m
